Like the Russo brothers and Zack Snyder, Game of thrones Creator George RR Martin is set to appear at Kevin Smith’s newly purchased cinema. Unlike these directors, it is not immediately clear what Martin will bring to the screen. After all, he doesn’t have a movie that everyone demands to see on the big screen. Turns out he didn’t need to bring one. Smith and Martin will screen for a Q&A and discussion ranging from film to television and literature, presumably touching on a bit on Martin’s image. Event tickets sell for $30, with VIP tickets for $75. VIP tickets include a signed copy of The Rise of the Dragon: An Illustrated History of the Targaryen Dynasty, Vol. 1.

Smith recently struck a deal to buy his childhood movie theater, after plans were announced in August, and he has big plans for the movie house, which include a consignment shop in the lobby, a “film school camp” for aspiring young filmmakers, and of course plenty of specials for cult classics, including Including Smith’s own movies, complete with question-and-answer sessions, special events, and a marathon. Smith announced his intention to buy the theater—with his wife Jennifer Schwalback; Investor Jeff Swanton and Leeloo Multiprops, a company that sells movie props, collectibles, and celebrity experiences — during a recent episode of Hollywood Babylon OnHis podcast with Ralph Garman. The theater – nearly 100 years old and a staple in Smith’s hometown all his life – will be renamed Smodcastle Cinemas, and Smith plans to show films as usual for most of the year, but also use the venue as a home for speaking events, live performances, film festivals and other displays of shindigs with Relevancy to Askew.
