Jonathan Majors as Dennis Rodman, director of Marvel’s Kang Dynasty

If Jonathan Majors has seemed to be everywhere lately, that’s because he has been.

Michael B subscriber Majors makes his official debut as boxer Damian “Dam” Anderson in “Creed 3” on Monday morning, but… diverse The actor met over the weekend at the Academy’s Museum of Motion Picture Awards and the Newport Beach Film Festival.

When the subject of the whirlwind of the past few months surfaced, Majors summed it up simply: “It’s just the season,” he said miscellaneous Angelique Jackson in Newport Beach on Sunday.

Well, it was definitely Majors season. The actor was honored at the festival with the Outstanding Artist Award for his role in the movie “Dedication”, in which he portrays pioneer fighter pilot Jesse Brown, the first black aviator in the Navy. After that segment, the actor has a stacked list of movies in the works, including his eagerly awaited arrival as Kang the Conqueror in Marvel’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” slated for release in February.

At the Academy event on Saturday, Majors shared his excitement to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe miscellaneous Mark Malkin, saying, “Every time they call and say, ‘Hey, we need you for this,’ it’s another miracle.

While he’s only aiming to do his Marvel duties “scene after scene,” it wasn’t lost on the actor specifically how “epic” it is to be a part of these films. He said, “Every time there’s an event about it or something breaks, I go, ‘Yeah that’s real.'”

The first time he saw himself as Kang, Majors “didn’t quite believe” that he was on screen. “Because he looks different from me. He’s a different guy than me. He used all my stuff, but he’s a different cat,” “When I first heard the trailer, I didn’t recognize the voice, and it was telling everything. So I said ‘What is this?’ I was like Oh, that’s a great line. This is a bar. This is a bar. And then they showed who it was and I was like, “Oh, oh, oh, well, cool.”

The world has yet to get its first glimpse of Kang—except for the lucky fans who saw the trailer at Comic-Con and D23—but everyone has witnessed the actor’s recent physical transformation, courtesy of him. men’s health Which exploded online last week. A recipe for these: “Work. Time. Doaa. Rice and chicken, six times a day,” he said sarcastically, noting that the training wasn’t “hard,” but it was an event. It’s been a year and a half of his life with a “get up, exercise, work, sleep, repeat” system.

As an integral part of Marvel’s Phase 5, Kang’s path leads to the 2025 movie “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” which was recently announced to be directed by Destin Daniel Creighton (“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”). At the Newport Best Film Festival on Sunday, Majors confirmed that he and Creighton had already begun to have conversations about the storyline.

“Well, we had a few conversations. We talked for a very long time,” Majors shared. “He is an open mind. He is an open heart. He and the work he does is grounded and that is the most important part of it.”

He then explained why Creighton’s approach was important.

“We’re dealing with myths: What is ‘Kang’? What is a movie? You know, what is an MCU movie? What does that mean? What does it look like?” Major remarked. “Those are the questions we ask, but it all works when it is established and, in fact, really tucked into the particular circumstances of what happens among these people and what we can illuminate for ourselves as a species.”

Even the question of what makes Kang – who is set up to be the MCU’s new primary antagonist – a villain is called into question. “What is the villain?”

After his MCU moment, Majors will star as an amateur bodybuilder in “Magazine Dreams” and then play Willem Dafoe in “The Man in My Basement,” the film adaptation of Walter Mosley’s bestselling novel. The Emmy-nominated actor also flaunts the chance to play Dennis Rodman in Lionsgate “48 Hours in Vegas,” about the Chicago Bulls star’s infamous journey during the 1998 NBA Finals.

“His character as a man is a wild one,” Majors said of Rodman, explaining that questions like “What should you be free to make your own choices, regardless of the impending consequences?” are what he likes most to explore.

“It’s eclectic. It’s an open mind. It’s an open heart. Selfishly, you want to play a role like that, because it’s going to push you into that place,” Majors explained. “Jesse Brown teaches me things about my soul and my soul. I know Rodman will too, and I am looking forward to getting into it.”

For now, though, Majors is focusing on “dedication.” The film, directed by J.D. Dillard, made its world premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival and has been flying across the festival circuit ever since, earning high ratings on every stop.

“Brother, Chief of Newport [Beach Film Fest.] It pulled me aside and was very complimenting the movie. Majors said his dad was in the Navy, and that he loved being a real portrait of her.” “When I looked at his face, I could feel that he meant it. He is a beautiful middle-aged man from a different background and I am, and I was impressed with him. So I go, well, that’s what we want to do.”

Joining the Majors at the ceremony was Dillard, who presented him with the award, and his partner, Christina Jackson, who was also honored as one of the miscellaneous 10 reps to watch.

Majors was more excited for Jackson than he was for himself. “I remember how we worked together on the set – her enthusiasm, her focus, her willingness to try,” he explained. “I’ve been watching it for a long time and so I’m glad everyone is waking up.”

“Devotion” will be released in theaters on November 23.
