Not only has The Rings of Power Season 2 confirmed, Amazon has already announced that it’s just the tip of the spear. Having invested the gold value of a Dwarven mine in the Tolkien series, The Rings of Power will have a total of five seasons.
Specifically, show runner JD Payne said empire (Opens in a new tab) That “the rights Amazon bought was for a 50-hour show. They knew from the start that this was the size of the board – this was a big story with a clear beginning, middle and end. There are things in season one that don’t come to fruition until season five”
Which is another way of saying The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Strength will definitely be a patient show. However, a lot of people will probably want the second season of Power episodes right away, as the first season ended so nicely.
Sure, season 1 dried up a bit at times, but the Prime Video series found its ignition (and we’re not just talking about Balrog) in Episode 8. The episodes of Power season 2, including how long you might have to wait for it to arrive.
Of course, here’s your spoiler warning for details from Season 1 of The Rings of Power:
Ring of Power Season 2 release date speculation
We’ve heard some contradictory things about the Rings of Power Season 2 release date windows.
The good news about the Rings of Power Season 2 release date:
in New York Comic Con 2022 (Opens in a new tab)JD Payne and Patrick McKay revealed (via a pre-recorded video) that they were on set for the show in the UK – and that production was just beginning.
On top of that, Prime Video seems intent on delivering the second-year season as quickly as possible, Amazon Studios president Jennifer Salk said. Respected (Opens in a new tab) That “we’re going to spread that out to the world as fast as we can. We want the shortest time possible between seasons, but we want to keep the bar high. So it’s going to take whatever it takes. But there’s been some urgency about moving quickly, which is why these guys have been writing all along. Their downtime. We’re moving fast.”
Bad news about Rings of Power Season 2 release date:
In an interview on October 5, 2022, co-model Patrick McKay said The Hollywood Reporter (Opens in a new tab) They “expect to work on season two for another two years.”
When can we expect Ring of Power Season 2 to appear?
If it takes “two more years” from the end of Season 1, we may have to accept that there won’t be more episodes of The Force until late 2024. Although we’re curious if Salk and MacKay are on the same page – because that’s a long time to wait.
Rings of Power Season Two: Who Will Return?
The Rings of Power cast of characters, despite their huge size, will likely return (mostly) for season 2. However, we don’t think we’ll see more Harfoot members who aren’t Nori (Markella Kavenagh). Season one was all about slowly preparing her to leave the herd, and now that she’s stopped on her own with The Stranger (Daniel Weyman), we doubt she’ll return to her people. As for who is strange? More on that below.
Here’s our list of what to expect in the Season 2 episode of The Force:
- Morvid Clark as Galadriel
- Ismael Cruz Cordova as Arundir
- Charlie Vickers as Halbrand / Sauron
- Markella Cavina as Nouri Brandefoot
- Daniel Wyman as The Stranger
- Owen Arthur as Prince Doreen IV
- Benjamin Walker as King Gil Galad
- Sophia Numfit as Princess Desa
- Peter Mulan as King Doreen III
- Charles Edwards as Lord Celebrimbor
- Cynthia Addai Robinson as Queen Regent Merrill
- Lloyd Owen as Elendil
- Alex Tarrant as Valandel
- Nazanin Boniadi as Bronwyn
- Tyroe Muhafidin as Theo
- Robert Aramayo as Elrond
- Jeff Morrell as Waldridge
- Maxim Baldry as Isildur
- Joseph Moll as Adar
- Trystan Gravelle as Pharazôn
As much as the first Ring of Power arc was about Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), expect a great deal of focus on Halbrand, Err, Sauron (Charlie Vickers). The show’s co-host, J.D. Payne, said: The Hollywood Reporter (Opens in a new tab) Much like how Season 1 revolves around the questions of “Who is Gladrill? Where did she come from? What did she suffer from? Why was she led?” … “We’re doing the same with Sauron in season two we’re going to fill in all the missing parts.”
In the same interview, Payne polished poetry about how John Milton’s Paradise Lost gave the demon some depth, so expect the second season of episodes of The Force to truly capture his big bad.
Oh, and then there’s the whole question about Isildur (Maxim Baldry). Given his death by loved ones, it is still very likely that Isildur will return at some point in the next four seasons. This will likely set up a big meeting between him and Elendil (Lloyd Owen).
He talks about people who are supposed to have died. We expect a new actor to play Celeborn to join the cast. Although Galadriel is believed to be dead, LOTR canon says otherwise. There is offspring to be born, and all sorts of other things the two of them have to do.
Also, the show’s production team announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that the biggest and wisest elf Círdan will be joining the show. It is assumed that the casting has not yet taken place.
Notably absent at the end of the season are the Mystics, the trio trying to find Sauron. They found their master in The Stranger basically dead. So don’t expect Edith Burr as The Nomad, Bridie Sisson as The Dweller, or Kali Kopae as Ascetic – unless she is recast by Halbrand/Sauron.
Lenny Henry won’t return either, as Sadock Burroughs was mortally wounded during the fight that saw the fearsome trio fall.
Episode 2 of Season Two: What’s Next?
It’s unclear when the second season of the final episode of season one will begin, but the new season will revolve around the two biggest moments of season one. And that he essentially made Mordor (or at least secured the estates of Mount Dom and all the desolate charred plains he could ask for). And there’s still the Balrog we saw in Episode 7 finale.
As mentioned above, the powers that be pulling the strings in The Rings of Power want to spend a lot of time demonstrating Sauron’s sophistication. Until Payne said (Opens in a new tab) “In Tolkien, Sauron is a deceiver and we know that in the Second Age he appears in ‘fair form.’ So what if he crept up on you and was able to convince you to sympathize with him and get you on board so that once you really realize who he is, he’s already got his hook in you? Just as easily , “This guy is evil, I’m going away, ’cause you’ve already formed a certain level of bonding with him. What if we could get the audience to go through a similar journey?” McKay even likened him to Tony Soprano and Walter White.
But the most exciting news is that McKay called Rings of Power Season 2 the equivalent of The Dark Knight, and it was the first season of Batman Begins. Currently, Sauron “maneuvers in the open”. Which should lead to more drama and tension.
People upset by Rings of Power’s canon inconsistencies have reason to be hopeful, going on to say “Season 2 has an essential storyline. There might be viewers like, ‘This is the story we were hoping to get in season one!'” In season two, we give it to them.”
Elsewhere, we’ll see what happens now that the forces of good have imposed it The three rings. Currently in the hands of Elrond, Celebrimbor, and Galadriel, these rings will need to propagate from only Elvish corners of the lands. We’re guessing Durin III will want one of those rings in the Dwarvish lands as a reward for giving up mithril.
This is where the aforementioned Círdan should appear, as he is supposed to get one of these three rings (which he later gave to Gandalf in the Third Age).
Speaking of Gandalf? stranger’s identity In the end, as we learn he is (or may be) one of the Istar (as the Mystics called him), the wizards of the Lord of the Rings. This, combined with the fact that he appears to love moths and the phrase “follow your nose,” many may suspect that he is Gandalf.
Except, well, there’s one giant star sign: It’s too early for Gandalf. If (and at this point, that’s a big deal), the rings of power hold true with the canon, then we’d be at age one very early, as the five Istari we know (which include Gandalf and Saruman) don’t appear until age three.
Will the stranger be revealed to be another Istarian? we will see. Now, he’s on his way to Rin with Nuri, because that’s where he tells he can see the constellation of stars he’s looking for. Rhûn can be a lot of interest to Rings of Power, as it’s basically a blank slate. Also, Rhûn is where the Mystics wanted to take The Stranger, so it looks like trouble awaits them.
