NJPW chief ‘angry’ over Karl Anderson’s WWE commitments

Karl Anderson finds himself in an unprecedented position in the world of professional wrestling. The current Open Heavyweight Champion returned to WWE earlier this month along with partner Luke Gallows, to once again line up with AJ Styles in a fight against The Judgment Day. While Anderson and Gallows signed deals with WWE after ending their commitments with Impact Wrestling, both men still have scheduled dates with New Japan Pro Wrestling through January. Anderson’s presence on those bookings is crucial, because as mentioned, he’s actively reigning supreme with one of the NJPW singles tournaments.

The Machine Gun was to put the Absolute Openweight title on the front line against Hikulio at NJPW Autumn Battle In Osaka, Japan on the 5th of November. This show happens on the same day as WWE Crown Jewel5,200 miles from Mrsool Park in Saudi Arabia. Anderson is set to work with the Gallows and Styles team at crown jewel To face Finn Balor, Damien Priest, and Dominic Mysterio from The Judgment Day, he was forced to withdraw from his title defense in Autumn battle.

NJPW President Takami Obari said Tokyo Sports He was “angry” about the double booking but did not comment on how he felt about Anderson’s choice of wrestling for WWE instead of New Japan.

Although Anderson will miss the title defense next month, it doesn’t look like he will ever give up the open weight title. In his video on social media where he announced that he will not attend Autumn battleThe Bullet Club member appears to have mocked that he and Gallows will be returning to NJPW soon.

“The new pro wrestling, I love what you’ve done for the good brothers during these years. I’m the greatest open welterweight champion ever,” Anderson added. “I only work when the lights are bright. November 5, we won’t come. We’ll come in our time. The submachine gun will tell you when I came to defend my championship.”

Anderson is currently on his second tour with WWE. He first joined the promotion in 2016, and regularly worked alongside Gallows and occasionally Styles and Balor. In that round, Anderson and Gallows captured the preliminary tag team titles on two occasions. The two men have had success in Saudi Arabia before, as in 2019 crown jewel Anderson and Gallows won the WWE Tag Team Championship.
