NY Post connects Carlos Correa, Justin Verlander and more to the Yankees

John Heyman of the New York Post suggests that the New York Yankees should be spending on an off-season spending spree.

The New York Yankees get into the Offseason as they don’t have any World Championship titles in their possession. This was perhaps the most embarrassing departure for the Yankees in recent memory, as the Houston Astros swept them into the MLS Championship Series. The gap between them and the Astros is huge. The fan base is furious, and they wait for what owner Hal Steinbrenner decides to do out of season.

John Heyman, an MLB network insider and columnist for the New York Post, made a proposal to the Yankees. – Spend money this season. Some names suggest Heyman that the team re-signed star defensive player Aaron Judge and brought in free agents such as Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa, Astros ace Justin Verlander and the Mets closer to Edwin Diaz.

If Yankees fans need a picture of all those guys wearing stripes, just take a look at the back page of the New York Post.

The New York Post suggests the Yankees are going on an off-season spending spree

Heyman called his suggestions a “winning plan” for New York, saying at least he re-signed the judge and one of the other three players. The team earned $265 million in salaries, and they didn’t build a World Championship team that could surpass Houston. In this plan, Heyman suggests it would cost $141.15 million more.

The obvious step is for the Yankees to re-sign with the judge. It’s going to be expensive, and well worth it after his campaign as the best player, but it’s a move the team must take. If not, the 2023 outlook for the Yankees looks even bleaker.

Regarding Korea, New York had the opportunity to bring him in last season, but they chose not to. Instead, they acquired Isiah Kiner-Falefa along with third baseman Josh Donaldson of the Minnesota Twins, who then signed with Correa on a three-year deal that included multiple cancellations. While Heyman suggests Correa, he also brings in Trea Turner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who could secure a very lucrative contract this off season.

The Yankees were actually at Verlander last year, too. Heyman reports that New York has offered the uncrowned 2022 AL Cy Young Award winner a one-year deal worth $25 million. Verlander decided to return to the Astros on a two-year, $50 million contract that also included opting out after 2022.

Heyman’s latest suggestion is to sign Diaz away from the Mets, citing the injury-ravaged Yankees’ devastation in 2022. Diaz was one of the best players in baseball last season, scoring 32 assists in 35 chances, 1.31 ERA, 0.84 WHIP, and 118 runs over 62.0 strokes.

Will Steinbrenner be willing to go above and beyond this off season to build a true contender for the World Championship? Who knows. Yankees fans want to know what the team is up to this winter, as they are now 13 years after their last World Championship appearance.
