‘The Witcher’: Liam Hemsworth takes over as Henry Cavill

The Witcher will return for a fourth season on Netflix, though the hit fantasy series will lose a familiar face. Henry Cavill will exit the series after the upcoming third season, with Liam Hemsworth preparing to take on the lead role of Geralt of Rivia.

Streamer announced the news on Saturday afternoon, with Hemsworth and Cavill making statements regarding the shift in casting.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been full of monsters and adventures, and unfortunately I will be putting up my medal and swords for Season 4,” Cavill said in a statement on Instagram. “In my place, the wonderful master Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of the white wolf. As with the greatest literary figures, I pass the torch with respect for the time I have spent portraying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam take on this most wonderful and refined man. Hussam, good sir, this character has such a Great depth, enjoy snorkeling and seeing what you can find.”

“As a Witcher fan, I am very excited about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill Geralt has been fantastic, and I am honored that he handed me the reins and allowed me to take the blades of the white wolf in the next chapter of his adventure,” Hemsworth said in a statement. “Henry, I’ve been a fan of you for years and have been inspired by what you’ve brought to this lovable character. I might have some big shoes to fill in, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.”
