Beetlejuice 2: Tim Burton drops major update after Winona Ryder confirmation | movies | entertainment

Beetlejuice appears on Channel 5 screens at 5:05 p.m. today. And although the fantastic scary movie has a cult following, it never received a sequel. The mastermind behind the scary image, Tim Burton, has spoken about the future of the franchise in recent years, but a new update straight from the horrific mastermind has given fans hope once again.

Earlier this month, Burton hinted at the fact that he has no plans to join the upcoming Beetlejuice 2.

The long-awaited sequel was confirmed to be in development by Deadline earlier this year. It is handled by Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B.

However, in recent days, Burton backed off. He noted that “there is nothing out of the question” regarding the Beetlejuice 2.

He continued, “I only know if I’m making a movie when I’m actually on set. I try to get back to the roots of everything. It stems from a seed and then grows, rather than out of it these statements.”

Then he went on to provide the most promising answer to fan hopes thus far.

“I’m working on ideas and things but it’s all too early,” Burton said. “We’ll figure out how it goes. How is it if there’s no answer?” (via deadline)

The American director’s comments are very exciting for fans of the undead movie, but now they have to wait for the official word on whether the original cast will return as well.

In 2015, Lydia star Winona Ryder confirmed that she was involved in the sequel long before Plan B purchased the film rights.

She said, “I think I can confirm [Beetlejuice 2]because Tim Burton did this interview – like, it was very silent, very secretive – and then he did some lobbying for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview, and he said, “Yeah, we do and Winona is going to be in it. And I was like [shocked face]. “

For a short period of time, Seth Graham Smith – author of Abraham Lincoln: The Vampire – was attached to Beetlejuice 2.

He spoke openly about how the sequel would be so difficult — with or without Burton.

He said, “It’s funny, when I met Tim about it recently, and we’ve been talking for five years at this point, the reason it’s so hard to move forward is because so many people love it and because there are 10 million ways to get this sequel wrong and four ways to get it right.”

He continued, “It’s so fine needle in the thread that I definitely didn’t get it there, text-side. I didn’t thread the needle. There are things that were great and some interesting ideas. I’ve definitely moved emotionally about it and just said, ‘If it happens’ That one day, it will happen.”

Beetlejuice is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video now.
