Everyone has Halloween traditions that they stick to year after year, whether it’s popular—like carving a jack-o’-lantern—or more personal—like watching. Trick cure. The latter is one of my personal traditions because I consider 2007’s cult favorite writer-director Michael Dougherty one of the greatest horror films ever made for how it celebrates the importance of preserving these traditions in frightening and hilarious ways. Just in time for Halloween, I revisited this Pulp Fiction– Classic horror anthology for what might be the fifth or sixth time (I honestly lost count) and thought I would Treat With what’s going on in my head.
Sam has the greatest murder weapon in horror movie history
Leatherface may stand out among other popular horror movies with its saw, but no one has a pick nearly as unique as the partially eaten lollipop, which Sam (Queen Lord) uses on Leslie Bibb’s character, Emma, to take down Halloween decorations so early. Of course, I don’t necessarily think of the young half-human, half-pumpkin hybrid as the true villain of Trick cure (We’ll get to it then), but a heroic (or anti-championship, at least) amulet for the holiday to protect everything it stands for, which is why I have my own replica of the famous prop.
Wilkins’ speech about the waning enthusiasm for Halloween really hits home for me
real villain Trick cure It’s undoubtedly Stephen Wilkins (Dylan Baker), but there was almost one moment in which I found myself sympathizing with the crazy headmaster when he talked about how “now, no one really cares” about most Halloween traditions and how respecting the dead began. It reminds me of how I’ve seen far fewer trick-or-treaters roaming the streets and Halloween decorations put up in my neighborhood as I got older, which is really frustrating to see. Perhaps that’s part of why the holiday movie is just as important to me.
This movie also serves as a kind of dark PSA for Halloween
any fan Trick cure He knows the movie makes as much fun and scary as it does some very valuable lessons about Halloween – like “Always check the candy,” which Wilkins mentions only Charlie (Brett Kelly from Evil Santa Another classic comedy about a certain holiday) after a poor kid realizes (through some horrific horrific regurgitation) that this adult has given him a poisoned candy bar. There is also another moment when a woman is attacked by Wilkins (disguised as a vampire) her pleas for help are ignored because people assume she is trick. It kind of makes me want to be more aware the next time I see someone acting weird on Halloween in case it’s more of an act.
Wait, did Wilkins kill his wife?
You could argue that this invisible stepmother’s death is what drove him to murderous rage in the first place, but from the way he makes fun of his son Billy (Connor Christopher Levins), for wishing his mother were still alive, it seems to me he would. Already out of the picture. Not to mention, we also found out that the younger Wilkins has a little From the dark side too, which can be a naturally inherited personality trait.
There are a lot of cool Jack-O-Lantern design ideas in this movie
It is a heartening sight to see how much effort is put into the decoration Trick cure, particularly in Jack-o-lantern designs, of which there is plenty to draw from – many can be seen in front of the courtyards of Ronda (Samm Todd), and later, Mr. Kreeg (Brian Cox). I actually carved a few inspired by the movie myself – one based on Sam’s flaming pumpkin plants in Craig’s house and the other based on Sam himself.
There are also many cool Halloween costume ideas featured here
Sam has also become a very popular costume over the years, but he’s not the only one. In fact, I’ve noticed it on my many annual trips to Halloween stores Trick cureIcons have transformed many familiar and simple costume ideas – like a vampire mask with a lower mouth opening or a brown rabbit mask – into something recognizable and searchable, which I find quite impressive.
Ronda is the most underrated character
It wasn’t until rewatching when I realized Ronda is my favourite Trick cure A character outside of Sam and I think it’s time to fully realize her relevance to the movie. From her extraordinary pumpkin-carving skills to her long history lesson on the origins of Halloween (which she even referred to as His original name is “Samhain”.), is the only other person in the film who shows a true passion for Eid and a dedication to preserving its traditions.
I love how a werewolf twist is given out of plain sight
Probably the scariest and most memorable moment in Trick cure It is when she discovers that Laurie (Academy Award winner Anna Paquin), her sister Danielle (Lauren Lee Smith), and their friends Janet (Monica Delane) and Maria (Rochelle Aitis) are werewolves – a revelation that has actually been revealed multiple times throughout the film. In fact, the characters alluded to this in their first scene when they refer to their potential dates as “fresh meat” or later when they called Danielle Lowry “the rubbish rune” when they were younger. The dexterity in dialogue is very clever.
Trick ‘R Treat has Marilyn Manson’s best use of Eurythmics Cover Ever
There may not be any other examples of Marilyn Manson’s Eurythmics cover, but you have to admit that Grungy’s 1995 show New Wave 1983 contributes to one of the best musical moments in horror movie history in terms of how perfectly it fits in with the werewolf transformation scene. Since then, this version of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” has become my favorite and a welcome addition to my Halloween playlist, “Rocktober.”
This is the most underrated performance by Brian Cox
I’ve heard a lot of admiration for Brian Cox for his Emmy-nominated double role as Logan Roy on HBO’s Succession and to star Hannibal Lecter on screen in 1986 Manhunterbut because I haven’t seen any of those, Mr. Kreeg’s Trick cure It’s still my favorite performance. The veteran Scottish warrior is so boisterous and enchantingly spirited almost like an old man learning a lesson in respect for Halloween from Sam.
This really is the ultimate Halloween movie
I could go on–and I think I’ve already gone–and go on and on here about how much I appreciate this love letter to my favorite holiday, which is why it’s my favorite Halloween movie. Now, I still consider the famous 1978 John Carpenter classic, Halloween, To be Better In this category, but it doesn’t capture nearly the essence of the season either Trick cure He does with his childish whims, use of tongue-in-cheek horrific, and even a dose of sex. Even with how dark this R-rated scary movie can get, it still has the power to make me feel like a little hoax or a little hoax all over again.
I was excited to see that, 15 years later, the original live video Trick cure Finally he got a stage show in some theaters for Halloween 2022, but also couldn’t help but wonder about the state of the long period, longAn expected sequel. Well, according to recent comments by Michael Dougherty, he and Legendary are working on it Trick cure 2 As we speak, which meant that the legacy of a favored sect might end up being beyond the first after all. Here in the hope that this Treat There is no trick this time.
