Daniel Radcliffe Addresses Wolverine’s Viral Comments (Exclusive)

Daniel Radcliffe as Wolverine Is There with John Krasinski as Mister Fantastic in the famous Marvel Gods. The internet decided it had to be a thing, and for years journalists asked Radcliffe about it, it would give every now and then a glimmer of hope that he might actually be interested in moving away from the high-concept indie films he has since been almost exclusively. Harry Potter And back to the world of blockbuster movies. Talking to ComicBook.com to support his upcoming movie Stranger: The Jankovic StoryDespite this, Radcliffe revealed that those moments aren’t about getting serious about boredom.

It turns out that when you’re asked the same question over and over again, and you give the same answer over and over… in the end it’s kind of a drag. Radcliffe told us that every time he jokes about pursuing the role, he regrets it almost immediately.

“With a Wolverine thing, it’s just something I got it wrong… I’ll be honest, and [say] “It’s nothing, it doesn’t happen,” said Radcliffe, and then I would often get bored of answering like this and would say, “Ah, come get me, Marvel!” Then I would say, ‘That was a stupid thing to say. Why would I ever say that? Then it kind of pops up… I think one’s mostly gone too far for now. “

Of course, it’s probably partly gone because Hugh Jackman will be returning to Deadpool 3, reducing the overall demand for a new Wolverine for the time being. How much that will remain true once Jackman is executed again remains to be seen.

You can see Radcliffe’s comments (and a mild spoiler for amazingwhich we cleverly hidden behind an ellipsis in the above quote), below.

Talking to ComicBook.com at the SXSW Premiere of the lost City Back in March, Radcliffe said he appreciates fans wanting a “short guy” to play Wolverine in line with the church comedy, but not only has he not been chosen, but he hasn’t seen them pick him after Jackman’s time in the role.

“A lot of times, people come up to me like, ‘Man, hear the Wolverine news, that’s so cool. No, I don’t know anything about that. Like, I appreciate that someone obviously acts like “Wolverine’s actually short in comic books, you should get like a short guy to do that!” Radcliffe said. “But I don’t see myself, I don’t see them moving from Hugh Jackman to me. But who knows? Prove me wrong, Marvel.”

Radcliffe previously said he doesn’t think he’ll play Wolverine even though fans are calling his name for the role. Back in 2019, he made it clear that his love for X-Men The movies actually make the likelihood of him wanting to appear in a follow up a bit lower.

The real question, of course, is why would he want to play a role as Wolverine when he’s already got a perfect franchise start in the form of “Stranger Al” Yankovic!

The film’s official Roku channel description reads: “Daniel Radcliffe is a ‘freak’ Al Yankovic in the true, unexaggerated story of the greatest musician of our time. From a traditional upbringing where playing the accordion was a sin, Al rebelled and fulfilled his dream of changing words into world-famous songs. Come true. An instant hit and a sex symbol, Al lives a hyperactive lifestyle and pursues a notorious romance that almost wipes him out. With Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson and an A-list of thousands of actors and their agents won’t let us reveal.”
