Twitter Blue will have a high price of $8 and will include a blue Verified badge

Twitter Blue will now cost $8, but it will also allow verification of subscribers by the platform.

After several reports that Twitter Blue will be priced at $19.99, Twitter head Elon Musk has announced that the service will now cost $8 per month. That’s slightly higher than the current price of $4.99, but the service will now include the ability to get a blue verification badge.

The verified badge was out of reach for some but easy to obtain for others. From now on, it will be available to everyone as long as you subscribe to Twitter’s premium blue subscription service. In addition to the verified badge, the service will also include priority replies, mentions, and searches, meaning that a verified user will have priority on Twitter, reducing the possibility of a similar account causing confusion.

Moreover, verified accounts will also have the ability to tweet longer videos and audio. This feature is not new, as existing Twitter Blue subscribers can access it through Twitter Labs. As a final feature, Twitter Blue users will see half as many ads as regular users, which should be nice for heavy users. Musk has not shared when this change will occur. Currently, the Twitter Blue signup page shows the old $4.99 price.

Twitter’s verification system was originally introduced in 2009 and was intended to provide users with a simple and easy way to distinguish between genuine and fake accounts. In its early stages, Twitter reached out to important people in order to validate them. But after a few years, it allowed users to get a verified status by sending a request. As you can imagine, the volume of incoming orders was huge, so the company had to pause the application process.

Twitter will resume the process again at a later time, with stricter criteria to weed out those who don’t really need verified processing. Of course, it is this process that has made getting verified an evasive process. Some may come forward and approve them in one take, while others, with a large following, will be rejected over and over again. Is this new change better? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
