John Wick Prequel Series Makes International Streaming Deal With Amazon

John Wick’s world expands in 2023 with the release of a prequel TV series called Continental. The series, which went from Starz to Peacock before its release, will focus on the hotel killer who became famous in John Wick Movies. While Peacock will be the home of the show in the United States, Continental It will have a different streaming location anywhere else around the world.

On Thursday, it was announced that Amazon had acquired the international rights to Continental. Amazon will broadcast the series everywhere outside of the United States, the Middle East and Israel.

Continental It’s only three episodes long, but is shown as a larger movie event over three nights, rather than as a weekly TV series. The series stars Colin Woodell as Winston, the character played by Ian McShane in both John Wick Movies. Ayomide Adegum will play a young version of Charon, the character of the Lance Reddick franchise.

“The John Wick The movies have created one of the most immersive, detailed and enjoyable universes we’ve seen on screen in the past decade, said Chris Mansolillo, Director of Content Acquisition at Prime Video. “We are very proud to play a role in continuing to build that universe, offering viewers an insight into the origins of the infamous Continental Hotel and its incredible characters.”

“We are delighted to partner with Prime Video, who has always been a world-class home to our property,” said Jim Packer, president of worldwide television distribution Lionsgate. “Continental It promises to be one of the major streaming events of 2023, and will be a perfect fit for the global Prime Video audience as the John Wick franchise continues to grow. This deal would not have been possible without Agapy Kapouranis, Chase Brisbin, and their talented counterparts at Prime Video, who have crafted a multi-faceted agreement that reflects today’s market evolution.”

In addition to Woodell and Adegum, Continental It also stars Mel Gibson, Ben Robson, Hubert Point du Jour, Jessica Allen, Michelle Prada, Nhung Kate, and Peter Green.

Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward will serve as writers, exhibitors, and executive producers on the three-episode series.
