Jackie Chan almost starred in one of the biggest films of 2022

Surely one of the biggest cinematic surprises of 2022 was Everything everywhere at once, a curved A24 movie of the genre that ended up becoming an instant cult classic when it premiered earlier this year. When Chan was unavailable to appear in the film, the script was rewritten to have Yeoh lead the entire project, which eventually ended up moving on to the final film.

“You never know through the alchemy of storytelling how things are going to fall,” co-director Daniel Kwan says in the report. “Switching characters made it more personal, giving us a wealth of experience to bring into the story. Suddenly it’s so easy to write and imagine.”

“What I need is for me to take on a challenge, and for directors to look at me differently,” Yeoh revealed. “Over the years, my [characters] It was strong and connected. So when I read the script, I was like, “Whoa, what?”
