Chris Reed reveals what it was like in the room when Kanye West went into a rant after his performance on SNL

One of his most famous moments happened when he appeared as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live Back in 2018. After the show, the rapper went on a rant for his support of then-US President Donald Trump. While the moment wasn’t actually broadcast, it was still documented by cast members and others who attended. Comedian Chris Reed was on the show at the time, and he provided insight into what it was like in the room when things went wrong.

Chris Reed can remember what happened in the lead up to the highly controversial moment. Apparently, Redd thinks the “Jesus Walks” performer was preparing to pull some “nonsense” onstage:

I remember dress rehearsal where he tried his dress rehearsal version of that, and I heard it, but there was music still playing so people were just sitting there cheering. But I was listening to his words, and I was like, Brother, he’s about to pull off some bullshit. And I’m not about to be on stage for that. I will not entertain this. Like, I’ve been a fan of Kanye my whole life. And I miss old Kanye.
