Profitable Powerball numbers of $1.9 billion delayed

The biggest Powerball drawing in lottery history was supposed to take place Monday night at 10:59 p.m. ET. However, that came and went, and Powerball officials failed to host their drawing. While Principal has not yet commented on the matter, state lotteries have indicated that the draw has been delayed due to security issues with one of the lottery’s member states.

“Tonight’s Powerball® draw has been delayed due to the participating lotteries needing additional time to complete the required security protocols. Powerball has strict security requirements that all 48 lotteries must meet before the draw can take place,” a statement from the California Lottery said. Shortly after officials postponed the drawing.

The statement added, “When the required security protocols are completed, the drawing will be conducted under the supervision of lottery security officials and independent reviewers. The winning numbers will be published as soon as they are available. Thank you for your patience.”

The jackpot is currently $1.9 billion, the largest in the game’s history. The total beats the previous record holder, the $1.586 billion jackpot won in January 2016.
