Next John Wick: Chapter 4 It will bring back a number of beloved characters from John Wick The franchise, but entirely new characters will also be introduced, with director Chad Stahelsky detailing how these new artists will influence the plot. As audiences have experienced in the previous three films, the legends of the series are dense and complex, as fans learn more about the world with each new film. In this respect, it should come as no surprise that Bill Skarsgård, Clancy Brown, and Shamir Anderson all have roles tied to the narrative’s overarching legend of assassins rather than the more mundane characters. “[Bill Skarsgård’s] The character’s name, given his broad name, is the Marquis,” Stahelski shared with her collider. “The Marquis, without giving away too much, I wouldn’t really say the opponent, but he’s the one responsible for cleaning up all the mess from the first three films.”
Brown is set to play a character known as “The Harbinger,” which is “whatever that word stands for,” and the director noted that Brown “gives the whole feeling, and it’s like our judgment at the high table.”
Due to the nature of the series, the characters introduced in the sequel are not just characters that enter the general narrative, as Anderson is a much more physical presence in the sequel.
“Shamir is a completely different type of character. His character’s name is Tracker. Again, the name says it all,” Stahelski explained. “Everyone has a purpose. Everyone has a reason. Everyone has a motivation. He is, at least in the beginning, self-motivated. He becomes a character in the gray area between the two worlds, the Wake world, and the real world.”
The new sequel is described, “John Wick (Keanu Reeves) reveals a path to defeat the High Table. But before he can gain his freedom, Wick must face a new enemy with powerful alliances around the world and forces that turn old friends into foes.”
The film also stars Donnie Yen, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins and Ian McShane.
