A totally wild and exciting fight ends with Dustin Poirier scoring Michael Chandler at UFC 281.
There was a lot of excitement in the lead up to the lightweight contenders facing off between former title contenders Dustin Poirier and Michael Chandler at UFC 281.
The fight certainly lived up to the hype, as the Fight of the Night contender ended up with a third-round victory over Poirier.
The power came early on with a few low kicks from Chandler, who quickly swept Poirier on her first takedown attempt. Chandler pressed Poirier to the cage wall for about two minutes with small frenzy, with Poirier trying to answer. Poirier wasn’t quite that successful but was able to check Chandler’s foot, causing some swelling and causing a small cut in Chandler’s face.

Chandler stunned Poirier with another wave about three minutes later and scored a takedown, attempting to lock down Poirier in a cross. Powareer was back on his feet, but Chandler scored an overhead goal, only to have Powareer quickly recover. With Chandler tired and battered in the last minute, Pourier stunned Chandler and nearly scored.
Chandler scored another takedown early in the second round, but about a minute later, Pourier threatened to choke a triangle. However, Chandler managed to reach Poirier’s back and search for a naked choke in the back. Chandler didn’t get it, but he remained in control at the highest level during the rest of the second round, landing several solid ground and pound shots in the timeframe.
About a minute into the final round, Chandler went to a major tournament on Poirier, only for Poirier to beat Chandler’s back. Bowerer was then able to lock the throttle and register the pressure.
