Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hit theaters last weekend with the eagerly awaited sequel to Black Panther Not only answering the question of how the Marvel Cinematic Universe will deal with the heartbreaking loss of Chadwick Boseman, but also ending Phase 4 of the MCU. The movie ultimately closed some doors and used its story to lay the groundwork for many others, including the upcoming Marvel one Lightning Movie. Not much is currently known about this movie, which is set to arrive on July 26, 2024, and while Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Viewing a particular moment can certainly be prepared for at least part of Lightning There’s another element to the film that could provide an opportunity to expand the MCU further while providing an action-packed adventure for the team represented by Red Guardian David. He has called Harbor the “losers”: Namor.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever largely chronicles the conflict between Wakanda and the formerly hidden undersea nation of Talokan, a nation ruled by Namor (Tenoc Huerta). The two worlds come into conflict over vibranium because, as it turns out, Wakanda is not alone in being rich in the mineral. The Talokan also has vibranium and it’s the efforts of the outside world – specifically the US government – to find vibranium outside of Wakanda that really stir things up. A device invented by Riri Williams/Ironheart (Dominique Thorne) and used by the CIA, he finds vibranium in the ocean, which triggers the Talokanil attack and becomes involved with Wakanda when Wakanda chooses to protect Riri rather than hand her over to Namor.
Eventually the Talokan and Wakanda become allies as they are the only two nations with vibranium and understand that they are against the world when it comes to vibranium. He also made it clear that the search for vibranium isn’t over yet. Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) at one point tries to tell his CIA boss/ex-wife Valentine Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) how dangerous it is for the United States to have a power like vibranium, which Val says is something he dreams about. Whereas this one line – the part about dreaming of having that kind of power – alone can start Lightning As a vibranium quest, it’s Namor’s angle that can really keep things interesting.
How could Namor deal with Lightning.
While the fall line could be the driving force behind Lightning, an ensemble movie that follows a team of anti-heroes and former villains you’ve assembled, sending such a team out just to scavenge for vibranium doesn’t seem like enough of a premise – but sending out such a team to deal with a potential threat like Namor of the Talokan and obtain vibranium in the process, especially if I looked at the list of Thunderbolts. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that the team’s roster will consist of Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Ava Starr / Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian (David Harbor) ), John Walker / U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Antonia Drekov / Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko). Each of these former heroes and villains have unique skills that are arguably useful against someone like Namor, but more so as characters who operate in a gray area enough to take out the leader of a sovereign country seems like something they’d like to do.
By Namor appearing as part of Lightning, would also cement his hatred of the surface world and create avenues for more conflict and storylines deeper into the MCU’s future – including laying the groundwork for interactions with the Fantastic Four when they finally come into the picture. There’s even potential, albeit admittedly a bit of a stretch Lightning It could reveal a bit more about the history of the MCU and suggest that there was a time when Namor was known by some world power. In the comics, Namor was part of the Invaders and served alongside Steve Rogers / Captain America, Bucky, the original Human Torch / Jim Hammond, and Torch’s sidekick Toro in World War II. Lightning To bring that connection to things via Bucky, which could lead to a Namor solo movie, series, or special presentation that could delve into that untold story. Sure, that’s a stretch, but it could be fun.
