NFC Playoff Picture Updated, NFC Wild Card Ranking After Packers Beat Cowboys

After the Dallas Cowboys went to Lambeau Field and lost to the Green Bay Packers, here’s what the NFC Playoff Picture and NFC Wild Card standings look like.

We only have eight weeks into the season and the watershed NFL picture is starting to come into focus.

There is still a lot of football to be played, and we have evidence that things can change very quickly in a short period of time.

Just ask the Minnesota Vikings about it.

Minnesota raced to Buffalo and secured a distinct win that could very well carry them to the top of the NFC. The Vikings are now 8-1, sitting just behind the Philadelphia Eagles as the best team in the entire league. Philly will still need to lose twice to cough up the top seed as he holds a major tiebreaker over Minnesota by way of an emphatic win in Week Two.

It was this amazing thing the Vikings endured that raised questions about whether they were a really good team or good enough to beat the bad ones. This question remains unanswered, but it is impossible to ignore the win at Buffalo and disrespect it out of foolishness.

NFC Playoff picture updated after Packers win over Cowboys in Week 10

After the Minnesota win, there was a lot going on at the NFC Playoff Picture in Week 10.

The Green Bay Packers finally ended their losing streak, defeating the Dallas Cowboys and turning things around at the NFC East in the process. The Green Bay win didn’t do much to get them back into the deciding picture but it did stop the bleeding and might have put the attack back on track before it was too late.

A Dallas loss, along with a Giants win, flips New York to the No. 5 seed. Tampa Bay maintained its winning path, beating the Seahawks in Germany to advance two games in the NFC South and settle firmly in a potential playoff zone.

Here’s a look at what the NFC Playoff arc would look like if the post-season started today:

  1. Philadelphia Eagles (8-0)
  2. Minnesota Vikings (8-1)
  3. Seattle Seahawks (6-4)
  4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-5)
  5. New York Giants (7-2)
  6. Dallas Cowboys (6-3)
  7. San Francisco 49 (4-4)

Based on these arrangements, here’s what the playoff matches will look like in the first weekend of the event:

  • (2) Minnesota Vikings vs (7) San Francisco 49
  • (3) Seattle Seahawks vs (6) Dallas Cowboys
  • (4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs (5) New York Giants

Each highest rated team will host their own Wild Card Weekend match. The Philadelphia Eagles will play the first-round first-leg match with the top seed and host any playoff they play in.
