Andy Warhol’s exhibition of 70 works is headed to Saudi Arabia this winter as part of the AlUla Arts Festival, one of several events in the country aimed at boosting the nation’s cultural stature.

Entitled “The Fame: Andy Warhol in AlUla,” the exhibition is organized by The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and directed by Patrick Moore, director of that institution. The exhibition is scheduled to open on February 17, 2023, at Maria, a gleaming, reflective building in the middle of the desert.

The exhibition’s focus will be on the many ways the pop artist has portrayed celebrities, from Mohmand Ali to Dolly Parton, and will include Warhol prints, famous “screen tests,” and more.
