Nintendo has hinted that a Switch price increase may be on the cards in the future. The popularity of video game consoles combined with a global shortage of parts has – in some cases – increased demand for supply. It’s for this very reason that Sony has increased the price of the PlayStation 5. Unfortunately for customers, while Nintendo hopes to avoid a Switch price hike, the company hasn’t actually ruled it out.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Nintendo was asked about the Switch’s price increase during a recent earnings call.
A Nintendo spokesperson said it is monitoring the situation closely and will consider its options moving forward.
“Nintendo, when asked if it will raise Switch prices, says it will not take such measures for the time being, but will continue to monitor the situation and think carefully (whether we need to make the choice),” Bloomberg reporter Takashi Mochizuki said.
With Nintendo’s comments in mind, it might be worth buying a device sooner rather than later to avoid any price increase.

The Nintendo Switch Lite will likely get the biggest discounts, though lower price cuts are expected on the regular model and Switch OLED.
Even if Nintendo Switch consoles don’t get a discount, retailers will have different bundles available for frugal fans.
Expect additional games and accessories to be bundled with the consoles for free, giving you even better value for money if you decide to purchase.
