One stat shows just how big a TNF win the Packers’ hopes are

The Packers are still alive in chasing the playoffs despite having a recent five-game losing streak. A win on Thursday would be massive.

It’s not often that you can come into Week 11 at 4-6 and having a 5 losing game in the meat of the season while keeping postseason hopes alive. The Green Bay Packers have benefited greatly from a dismal NFC this season that is keeping nearly every team in the conference – not just the Packers – alive through 11 weeks.

Any team that accumulates a few wins can easily run for the postseason even if it has performed poorly up to this point. With two Packers under Aaron Rodgers, they may be the best-placed team with a losing record to do so.

After a big win over the Dallas Cowboys last week, their Week 11 game is on short rest against the Tennessee Titans, and a win here would be big for their playoff hopes. Packers have to be opportunists in their home field to make this happen.

The statistics sample shows how important TNF wins are

NFL FiveThirtyEight Projection Template The Packers only have a 12 percent chance of making the postseason going into Week 11. A win tonight, however, would double the Packers’ chances of making the playoffs, bringing them up to 20 percent. Looking ahead, they have the Eagles in Week 12, and back-to-back wins in both Weeks 11 and 12 would do more for the players, bringing their playoff percentage to 40 percent.

one step at a time. The surrogate score shows how important TNF is. If the players lose on Thursday, their playoff chances drop from 12 percent to five percent. A win over the Eagles next week would put them back up to 15 percent in that scenario.

That means a win tonight is a 16 percent swing in chances of making the playoffs versus a loss, according to the FiveThirtyEight model.

As always, it’s very important to take care of the problem right in front of you and for the Packers, these week 11 giants. Doing so will help The Packers continue to turn the tide in this very poor season.
