If you don’t want to spend upwards of $1,000 on a new TV, then the Hisense U6H is a good option. You may not get all the bells and whistles with this particular TV as you would with, say, the more expensive Hisense U8H, but it’s still plenty for those who just want a reliable TV to watch content. It’s available to purchase in 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch sizes, all of which have an LED panel that offers good image quality. The Hisense U6H has high contrast ratio like the U8H, and it’s also good for HDR content. Its local dimming feature isn’t as good as some high-end TVs, so it may not offer you the best viewing experience in a dark room. It’s still a good TV overall that replaces the outgoing model by offering almost the same performance and features. They all have a 4K panel, but they only support up to 60Hz refresh rate.
The Vizio M-series Q8 may not be our top pick for gaming, but it still has native FreeSync variable refresh rate (VRR) support to reduce screen tearing. That, along with low input lag and quick response times, means it’s great for casual gamers. The built-in StreamCast system isn’t the best software interface out there though. It doesn’t come with an app store either, so you’ll have to rely on a streaming device for a good software experience. Lackluster software aside, the Vizio MQ8 is a pretty good TV that starts at $700. It’s tough to put together a round-up of the best TVs without including Samsung’s iconic TVs from The Frame lineup. We’re recommending the 32-inch variant of this particular TV in this collection because it’s one of the few high-end TVs that are available to purchase in this size. That being said, Samsung offers this TV in a bunch of different sizes, going all the way up to a massive 85 inches.
The Frame 2022 QLED is essentially an upgraded version that now comes with a different screen finish. The new 2022 models have a matte anti-reflective coating on the display as opposed to the semi-glossy screen seen on the previous model. The overall picture quality of Samsung’s Frame TVs is great. It doesn’t have local dimming or Mini LED backlighting like some other high-end TVs out there, but you still get a Quantum Dot layer, allowing it to cover a wider color gamut.
The highlight of this particular TV, however, is how it looks. The Frame TVs, in case you’re wondering, are made to look like a piece of artwork, so it’s recommended that you mount them on a wall. These TVs come with black-colored bezels by default, but you can always customize them while buying. Samsung also has an Art Store in which it sells a ton of paintings and artwork that you can download for the TV, but it lives under a subscription. There’s no practical reason to buy an 8K TV right now given the lack of 8K content, but if you want to be among the first to have it, the Samsung QN900B is a great model. As we mentioned earlier, OLEDs are the absolute best when it comes to picture quality, so the competition is also fairly limited. LG has a lot of great 8K OLED TVs too, but they’re significantly more expensive than the Samsung one that we’ve mentioned here. We’re going to save those later, so check back in the future.
