As a bonus, we’re also recommending an amazing 8K TV for those of you who are early adopters, even if it’s quite some time away from reaching the mainstream.

Best TV overall: Samsung S95B OLED 4K

An image of Samsung S95B OLED 4K TV on a wodden cabinet.

Samsung has a lot of TVs in its portfolio, but you should pick up the S95B OLED TV if you’re looking for the best TV right now. This particular model is available to purchase with either a 55-inch or a 65-inch screen, both of which use a unique QD-OLED panel that combines the best aspects of OLED and Samsung’s Quantum Dot technology. Samsung TVs are a class above the rest when it comes to overall image quality, but the S95B takes it to a whole new level with vibrant and punchy colors, deep blacks, and more. HDR content also looks great on this TV compared to a lot of other options out there.

The Samsung S95B TV is also packed with many great features. It’s powered by Samsung’s Tizen OS, which makes it easier for its users to find the right content by curating the home screen. This is also an excellent TV for console gamers as it supports 4K@120Hz gaming on all four HDMI ports, with support for VRR, too. The 55-inch variant usually goes for $1,899, but it’s now available for just $1,449 for the holiday season. The 65-inch variant will cost you $1,799 right now, which is also a great price for those looking to buy a bigger TV.

Samsung's first OLED TV, the S95B, is now available for pre-order.

Runner-up: LG C2 OLED

LG’s C series has long been a favorite among consumers for its OLED TVs, and the LG C2 4K OLED TV is continuing that tradition. One of the best things about this particular TV is that it’s available in a variety of different sizes. It starts at 43 inches and goes all the way up to 83 inches. Despite the size of the panel you pick, you’ll get stunning image quality with inky blacks and vibrant colors. The panel itself doesn’t get as bright as the one on the Samsung S95B OLED, but there’s still plenty to like.

The LG C2 OLED TV runs the company’s custom WebOS software out of the box, which is known to be one of the best TV interfaces out there. It’s easy to use and gives you access to pretty much all major streaming services. The TV also comes with four HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K@120Hz output for next-gen console gaming. The 42-inch variant of the TV, which usually goes for $1,200 is available for just $899 right now as a part of the early Black Friday deal, so be sure to check it out.

LG's new OLED TVs weren't available when this article was written, but they might be live by the time you read this.

Best Android OLED TV: SONY BRAVIA XR A80K OLED

A Sony BRAVIA XR A80K OLED kept on a wooden cabinet.

If you’re on the lookout for the best OLED TV that runs Google’s stock Android TV or the new Google TV interface, then we recommend checking out the Sony BRAVIA XR A80K TV. It brings a lot of the same features as Sony’s A95K QD-OLED TV at a relatively cheaper price. We also recommend the A80K over the more expensive A95K because it’s also available in an additional 77-inch size. The only major difference between the Sony A80K and the Sony A95K is that the cheaper model comes with an OLED panel, whereas the more expensive A95K uses a QD-OLED panel. The QD-OLED will have better quality overall, but you’re not missing out on a lot with A80K’s OLED panel, especially for the price difference.

The A80K supports Dolby Vision support and better processing, so the overall image quality isn’t going to be significantly different from what you’d get on the Sony A95K. The Sony A80K is also a great choice for gamers because it comes with two HDMI 2.1 ports with support for 4K@120Hz output, along with ALLM and VRR. The Google TV interface also makes the A80K an easy recommendation over the top two contenders in this list because it’s still the go-to software interface for most people. The Sony A80K is available to purchase in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 77-inch sizes, and it starts at $1,300 right now in the U.S.

Best budget TV: Hisense U6H

An image of Hisense U6H ULED TV on a cabinet with a marble finish.

If you don’t want to spend upwards of $1,000 on a new TV, then the Hisense U6H is a good option. You may not get all the bells and whistles with this particular TV as you would with, say, the more expensive Hisense U8H, but it’s still plenty for those who just want a reliable TV to watch content. It’s available to purchase in 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch sizes, all of which have an LED panel that offers good image quality. The Hisense U6H has high contrast ratio like the U8H, and it’s also good for HDR content. Its local dimming feature isn’t as good as some high-end TVs, so it may not offer you the best viewing experience in a dark room. However, it does get bright enough in well-lit rooms, so you won’t have to take any additional steps to eliminate the glare.

All the Hisense TVs sold in the U.S. come with the latest version of the Google TV interface, so you get the same software experience that’s shipped with more expensive TVs in the U-series. You also get support for Google Assistant and Alexa, so you can use your voice to request your favorite movies and TV shows. Hisense also has some TVs that use Roku, but they’re relatively old and may not offer the best experience in 2022. The 50-inch variant of the Hisense U6H is down to just $400 right now, which is an excellent deal for the kind of experience it delivers for day-to-day media consumption.

The Hisense U6H 4K ULED TV comes with a 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, or 75-inch display, and they all offer a good experience for day-to-day media consumption.

Alternate best affordable TV: Vizio M-series (Model Q8) 2022

An image showing the Vizio M-series Quantum LED TV over a red-colored wall with matching red lighting in the room.

Vizio is a popular name in the budget TV space, and it has some great affordable TVs that offer good features without burning a huge hole in your pocket. The original version of this article had the Vizio Model Q7 as one of the best picks, but we’ve now updated it to include the 2022 model. It’s still a good TV overall that replaces the outgoing model by offering almost the same performance and features. Just like the 2021 model, it’s also available to purchase with a 50-inch, 55-inch, 58-inch, 65-inch, 70-inch, or 75-inch display. They all have a 4K panel, but they only support up to 60Hz refresh rate.

The Vizio M-series Q8 may not be our top pick for gaming, but it still has native FreeSync variable refresh rate (VRR) support to reduce screen tearing. That, along with low input lag and quick response times, means it’s great for casual gamers. The built-in StreamCast system isn’t the best software interface out there though. It doesn’t come with an app store either, so you’ll have to rely on a streaming device for a good software experience. Lackluster software aside, the Vizio MQ8 is a pretty good TV that starts at $700. Even the biggest version with a 75-inch display will cost you less than $1,000, so it’s great for economical shoppers.

The Vizio M Series (Model Q8) is our pick for the best budget TV on the market. It ticks all the right boxes and includes a better set of features than other TVs in this price tag.

Best small-sized TV: Samsung ‘The Frame’ QLED TV

An image showing Samsung's Frame TV mounted on a white-colored wall with a lamp and other furnitures around.

It’s tough to put together a round-up of the best TVs without including Samsung’s iconic TVs from The Frame lineup. We’re recommending the 32-inch variant of this particular TV in this collection because it’s one of the few high-end TVs that are available to purchase in this size. That being said, Samsung offers this TV in a bunch of different sizes, going all the way up to a massive 85 inches.

The Frame 2022 QLED is essentially an upgraded version that now comes with a different screen finish. The new 2022 models have a matte anti-reflective coating on the display as opposed to the semi-glossy screen seen on the previous model. The overall picture quality of Samsung’s Frame TVs is great. It doesn’t have local dimming or Mini LED backlighting like some other high-end TVs out there, but you still get a Quantum Dot layer, allowing it to cover a wider color gamut.

The highlight of this particular TV, however, is how it looks. The Frame TVs, in case you’re wondering, are made to look like a piece of artwork, so it’s recommended that you mount them on a wall. These TVs come with black-colored bezels by default, but you can always customize them while buying. Samsung also has an Art Store in which it sells a ton of paintings and artwork that you can download for the TV, but it lives under a subscription. The 32-inch variant of the TV starts at $550, making it one of the most affordable TVs in this collection.

Best 8K TV: Samsung QN900B Neo QLED 8K TV

An image showing the Samsung Neo QLED 8K in a living room over a wooden cabinet with person sitting in front of it on a couch with a dog.

The number of 8K TVs has increased exponentially in the last couple of years, but they remain considerably more expensive than the regular TVs. There’s no practical reason to buy an 8K TV right now given the lack of 8K content, but if you want to be among the first to have it, the Samsung QN900B is a great model. As we mentioned earlier, OLEDs are the absolute best when it comes to picture quality, so the competition is also fairly limited. LG has a lot of great 8K OLED TVs too, but they’re significantly more expensive than the Samsung one that we’ve mentioned here. We’re going to save those later, so check back in the future.

This particular TV is available to purchase with a 65-inch, 75-inch, or 85-inch display, and all of them have a Mini LED Quantum HDR panel. Gamers will also like this particular TV as it can do 4K at 120Hz with a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X. You can also hook it up to a PC for a 144Hz gaming experience. There is a lot to like about the Samsung QN900B, but it comes with an asking price of over $3,300 for the 65-inch variant. The 85-inch model will go above $5,000, which is a lot to spend on a TV that’s probably not going to have enough 8K content to play for quite some time.

As with the Frame TV, Amazon and Samsung are offering up to $500 off on the premium Neo QLED 8K TVs. However, Samsung's wall mounting service is much more affordable.

The Samsung QN900B is one of the best 8K OLED TVs you can buy on the market right now, but it’ll cost you upwards of $3,300 for just the 65-inch variant.

These are the best TVs you can buy right now. We’d say the Samsung S95B is easily one of the 4K OLED TVs you can pick up, but the LG C2 OLED isn’t too far behind. We’ve also included some other good options for those who either want a small-sized TV or those who don’t want to spend a lot of money.

So which TV are you planning to buy? Let us know in the comments section. If you’re in the market for the Android TV experience, we have guides on the best Android TV boxes as well as a dedicated guide for the best Android TVs.
