When you’re the parent of a new baby, there are certain milestones you don’t want to miss. Needless to say, as a dad who’s also a serious Disney fan, this is pretty special. Even if the child does not know what this moment means, the fact is that the child will not remember his first words anyway. This is a moment that mom and dad should remember, and they will definitely remember it. Also, the cast member playing Mickey might not forget that either. It will be a special Disney memory for everyone.
It sure looks like this little kid is saying “Mickey” while crawling all over Mickey Mouse. To be fair, kids sometimes say things that sound like worlds, but aren’t necessarily clear language. But that sure Mickey convinced himself that that’s what the kid said. It is difficult to say that the child really said Mickey, but it is also impossible to be sure that this is not what he said.
Babies often say “mama” or “dada” as first words because they are words they hear often. And even if this child’s parents weren’t crazy Disney fans, there’s every reason to believe that the child has heard the name “Mickey” a lot in his short time on earth. It’s hard to grow up in the Western world and not hear the name Mickey Mouse on a fairly regular basis. And if the parents of this child We are Crazy Disney fans, the kid will probably hear the name often.
Even grown adults can have emotional reactions when meeting Disney characters. I’ve watched other Disney World Cast members hug Mickey, with a pure joy that might surprise people. That’s what this interaction was like in its own way. This kid met Mickey Mouse, and excitement prompted him to say his first word.
Many people plan Disney World vacations in hopes of creating memories that will last a lifetime. It certainly seems to be what happened here. This is one of those iconic memories that a family is likely to remember no matter how ordinary. But thanks to the magic of Disney, the first word is really special, meaning something special to millions of people.
