Tim Allen reveals a hole in the Santa Claus plot that has always bothered him

Tim Allen is known for a number of roles, since his time as Mike Baxter The last steadfast men To voice Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story Movies (and even made a baby cry by just doing it). But as the holiday season approaches each year, Allen receives renewed interest for playing Scott Calvin, aka Santa Claus, in Santa Clause Movies. 2022 is a special occasion on this front, as Allen reprises Santa’s performance for him Santa Clause, a limited series that you can stream with a Disney+ subscription. As such, Allen was recently looking the same as he was earlier Santa Clause outings, and it turns out there was a plot hole from the first movie that always bothered him.

as part of Santa Clause Promotional circuit, Tim Allen has stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to chat with the title host about his latest projects. But as we look back in 1994 Santa ClauseAllen notes how, following Scott Calvin unexpectedly assuming the role of Santa Claus on that fateful Christmas Eve, it’s unusual that no one really acknowledges what happened to the former Santa Claus. Allen explained:

I never understood, even in the movie, why the elves didn’t go when I showed up at the North Pole, “Oh what happened to the other guy?” You know, I just hopped in a sleigh with the kid and off we go. Nobody ever asked, “Where – does Mrs. Claus know the other man is dead?” There were huge holes… So we came up with this scenario, Santa Claus. I have a family now. They end up doing all of this, filling holes in all of this.
