Dez Bryant freaks out after CeeDee Lamb’s catch is ruled out of bounds

CeeDee Lamb nearly hit one of the best touchdown catches we’ve seen in recent years. But has the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver been robbed?

CeeDee Lamb has emerged as the #1 wide receiver on fantasy teams around the country, even though he had that role on the Dallas Cowboys for quite some time. On Thursday night, Lamb hit one of his best catches of the season—except it didn’t count.

Aries seemed to be just one heel, or foot, perhaps, away from catching the elite to stop the Dallas cruise. Instead, after a challenge from Mike McCarthy, Lamb was confirmed to be out of bounds.

What is the catch in the NFL?

for every NFL RulebookSimplified catch rules state that a player must “control the ball, get two feet or some other part of the body, and make a football move, such as a third step/get to the line that he catches; or be able to make such a move.”

In Lamb’s case, the heel was technically off limits.

Did CeeDee Lamb steal from his catch?

While Cowboys fans were convinced CeeDee Lamb was stolen from the catch, this is a difficult argument given the time it took officials to review the incident. Dez Bryant, who had another infamous problem in Cowboys history, was touched by the ruling.

Bryant’s no-catch happened in the postseason, so there was more at stake. It also created more controversy.

As for Lamb, he made one fist in less than a quarter. While one of those didn’t count, Lamb is clearly stepping up his game in a crucial contest for Dallas. With their victory, they put breathing space between themselves and the NFC East’s New York Giants.
