Black Friday – It’s a spending festival we all know we shouldn’t truly It gets immersed, but I’ve yet to meet someone who can miss out on a real bargain when they see one.
When it comes to browsing Walmart Black Friday deals and Amazon Black Friday deals, it’s often pretty obvious how much each individual product has been discounted. From that you can deduce whether or not it’s a can’t-miss deal as the retailer claims.
However, when it comes to software and subscriptions — and the best VPN services in particular — things tend to get a little more murky.
VPN pricing issue
Industry-wide pricing is somewhat deceiving. Monthly figures are given for year-round plans that require one-time payments, and the discounts offered are calculated in percentage compared to very expensive one-month plans that very few users would consider buying unless they try out the software. It’s also impossible to find historical pricing for longer plans.
Despite these industry-wide issues, though, VPNs are invaluable tools that offer a myriad of uses — it can be hard to tell if the Black Friday VPN deals circulating around the web are really that much value. .
As VPN Editor for Tom’s Guide, I test and write VPNs day in and day out. Thanks to this, I have years of volatile price data hidden in the box of my little brain, just waiting for the moment when it will finally come in handy. And boy, did that day come.
Here, I’ll run through all of the VPN deals we’ve covered in Tom’s Guide in the run-up to Black Friday, giving insight into each provider’s pricing over the past year or so, and rating each deal out of 10.
If you’re in the market for a VPN, hopefully this quick guide will give some ideas as to whether now is a good time to sign up for a particular provider, or if you can prioritize other purchases now and get the same deal on a VPN anytime soon. throughout the year.
How are deals classified?
In my reviews, I will consider a number of things. First of all, I will take into account how attractive the deal is at face value. Then I’ll consider the difference, if any, in price between the current deal and what I’ve seen in the past. Unsurprisingly, I would also keep in mind the quality of the VPN itself.
The list will be ordered from best to worst, but if you’re thinking of subscribing, keep in mind that price isn’t the only factor to consider when buying. Make sure the provider you choose ticks all the boxes you need, and don’t be afraid to take advantage of the 30-day money-back guarantee that all of these providers offer.
PureVPN
Deal: 5 years for $1.13 per month with code TECH15 ($67) (Opens in a new tab)
(Opens in a new tab)
PureVPN is known for being a cheap VPN, and they currently offer what appears to be the best deal on the market right now.
Approaching the legendary $1 per month mark, the flagship price is eye-catching and beats any other VPN on the market. And while it’s a long plan at 5 years, the initial outlay of $67 should be manageable enough for most people.
Interesting is that this he is Real VPN Black Friday deal. While PureVPN is always a great value, this 5-year plan is often not available for purchase — and when it is, it’s closer to $2 per month.
Looking back to last year, I remember a very similar show, and while it ran until the holidays, it was over by the New Year. In short, if you want to save serious money and are willing to settle for a provider that is around 10th in our overall quality ranking, go for this one.

Surfshark
Deal: 2 years + 2 months free for $2.05/month ($53) (Opens in a new tab)
(Opens in a new tab)
Surfshark is another provider known for offering great rates year round, and their current deal is definitely tempting at $2.05 per month.
Compared to the competition – and with the exception of PureVPN’s ridiculous pricing – it’s up (or down) up there with the cheapest monthly VPN prices on the market. Including two free months helps bring that number down a bit, and you’ll see more of this in upcoming deals.
However, unlike some providers, Surfshark has lowered the price in addition to offering a freebie. A month or so ago, Surfshark was already offering two months for free, but they charge $2.30 a month. So, with this deal, it really does offer some real added value.
On top of that, I rate Surfshark as one of the top three providers on the market, so if you’re willing to sacrifice the length of time it covers for world-class performance, this is the option to choose.

Private internet access
Deal: 2 years + 4 months free for $2.03/month ($57) (Opens in a new tab)

Sounds familiar, right? The current deal for Private Internet Access is almost the same as with Surfshark, although you’ll get four months free, not two. You’ll see those two extra months through April 2025 instead of February, but in practice that’s not much of a differentiating factor.
What’s more noticeable is that the total discount PIA offers isn’t that impressive. Before this deal was launched, PIA had been stable at $2.19 per month for a long time. Admittedly, that was on a 3-year plan and required an even heavier outlay, but in terms of total deal value, this isn’t quite as strong.
However, no matter how you slice it, it’s still a very good value — especially if you’re looking for a torrent-capable VPN that has a bunch of extra features rarely seen from regular providers.

CyberGhost
Deal: 2 years + 4 months free for $2.03/month ($57) (Opens in a new tab)

It’s like I’m seeing a weakness, but no, CyberGhost really delivers exactly Same deal as PIA.
This isn’t quite as surprising as you might think, given that both providers, along with ExpressVPN, are owned by parent company Kape Technologies.
While ExpressVPN is generally assumed to be more independent, CyberGhost and PIA often share pricing structures, and although entirely conjecture, development and technology teams are likely to be involved.
Moreover, the previous prices of CyberGhost were the same as those of PIA before this campaign was launched. So, with that in mind, the only difference is the quality of the product—and in the latest round of reviews, PIA came out marginally on top (even though both are top-notch services).

IPVanish
Deal: 1 year + 3 months free for $3.19/month ($47) (Opens in a new tab)

IPVanish is doing something a little different on Black Friday, opting for a short-term plan at a very affordable price.
With three months in a one-year plan, the $3.19 per month price is attractive. Although it is not as temptingly low as PureVPN, it gives users flexibility and does not tie them down for a long period of time.
The discount isn’t exactly huge though, as I’ve seen IPVanish’s one-year plan fluctuate in the mid-$3 range for as long as I can remember. Plus, it’s worth noting that despite a smaller outlay, for just $7 more, you can get nearly twice the coverage of a top-rated VPN like Surfshark.

NordVPN
Deal: 2 years + 3 months free for $2.99/month ($80) (Opens in a new tab)
(Opens in a new tab)
Close your eyes and you’ll miss it — oh, wait, you already have…
Last week, NordVPN was offering Tom’s Guide readers an exclusive discount that brought the price of this plan down to $2.49 per month.
For a Nord Origins VPN, this is a really very good value.
With that fresh in my mind, $2.99 a month doesn’t exactly sound like it decline, but I’m well aware of the deals that the Panama-based provider can offer. It’s also not far from the normal year-round rates NordVPN offers.
But, as the world’s largest VPN, the Nord brand holds some major clout and if you need a VPN right now, I wouldn’t blame you if you chose to go with Team Blue. And of course, you still get a a little from saving.

Proton VPN
Deal: 2 years + 6 months free for $3.99/month ($119) (Opens in a new tab)
(Opens in a new tab)
Proton VPN isn’t known for being incredibly cheap or offering discounts on its products, so I’m glad to see the Swiss provider take part in Black Friday this year.
This is Black Friday too, and don’t expect it to last long. Proton definitely values itself and believes that users are willing to pay more for its superior service (just like a certain provider we’ll see in a bit).
However, at $3.99 per month, it’s certainly not a bargain, and an initial spend well into triple digits can put some users off.
For some, there will be very few good reasons to choose Proton VPN, and I personally appreciate its commitment to user privacy and unique features such as its Secure Core servers. However, those looking to save big should look elsewhere.

ExpressVPN
Deal: 1 year + 3 months free for $6.67/month ($99.95) (Opens in a new tab)
(Opens in a new tab)
It may be a better choice in terms of quality and overall performance, but ExpressVPN is steadfast in its stance on promotions and discounts. As is the case in Start submit to them.
What you see today is what you get all year long with a premium VPN. As a token of gratitude, ExpressVPN is offering 3 months free for Tom’s Guide readers, plus a year of storage in Backblaze. But no matter how you classify it, it simply isn’t just for Black Friday.
In terms of deals, it’s one of the more expensive ones – but in my experience, you get what you pay for. After all, I rated it as the best VPN service for a reason. Just like Proton VPN, if you are looking for a deal, I advise you to scroll to the top and take your pick.
