Even Nick Saban is bleeding from the iron pot

Nick Saban took a punch in the face during Alabama’s Ironman encounter with Auburn and continued training with a bleeding cut on his face.

If you heard Nick Saban got bloody at the Iron Bowl, you might think his Alabama team was in danger of being upset.

That certainly wasn’t the case with Alabama leading 42-14 going into the third quarter of the rivalry game. But Saban was really bloody. Just in the literal sense.

The Crimson Tide coach took a headbutt to the shoulder at one point during the game and walked away with a fractured cheek. Cameras captured blood on his face.

On the CBS broadcast, Saban had some accidental contact with a player’s shoulder pad, resulting in a cut and mark on his face.

Obviously, the blood was not harming Saban or his team. The coach looked tougher on the sidelines as his team ran away with victory.

Because of the loss to LSU, the Crimson Tide will not play in the SEC Championship Game. Alabama doesn’t have much hope of making the College Football Playoff without a title game appearance (although a bit of a mess could still get them in), so on Friday they were playing for pride and a more suitable berth.

Bryce Young and company got the job done, taking a 35-14 halftime lead. They scored three unanswered touchdowns after Auburn opened the game with a touchdown.
