Ohio State attacks Michigan player in heated exchange (video)

Ohio State tight end J. Scott Jr. let his emotions get the best of him in the game as it cost the Buckeyes dearly by hitting a Michigan player.

One thing the Ohio State Buckeyes are not used to is falling behind in games. While Ryan Day’s team struggled at times and slipped in the first half, they went 11-0 into their rivalry game against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday because they always seemed to fold in the last 30 minutes of action.

The game has a way of making emotions hotter than ever and pressure unlike anything many gamers have experienced before. This was evident in the Buckeyes’ second half.

JJ McCarthy’s third long pass of the game put Michigan up 24-20 and Ohio State was looking for any kind of answer. But after a play in which the first down was called again due to a blocked penalty, J. Scott made matters worse by losing his temper.

Running on the sidelines with a Wolverines defender covering him, Scott immediately ran and fell into his opponent’s face before throwing an apparent, gratuitous headbutt that cost OSU another 15 yards for an unsportsmanlike conduct kick.

It’s one thing that passions run high in a game as brimming with history and passion as Ohio State-Michigan. But you have to keep your cool or it could cost your team everything.

Although the ending hasn’t been written yet, it’s almost as if it is here. This penalty from Scott for his selfish and boneless decision put the Buckeyes at first and their own 35 where they were unable to convert and had to pass the ball back to the Wolverines giving them the chance to add more to their lead.

If Ohio State does indeed lose for the second year in a row to Michigan, Scott will have to be one of the scapegoats for this batter.
