According to ABC, the deal put Banerjee in control of the business, and DeNoia had the right to tour. However, as time went on, this deal proved to be a point of greater contention between the two. That’s because touring was the most profitable part of the business, according to Scott Gariola, the FBI agent involved in the case, and Banerjee became overwhelmed by DeNoia’s success. Candace Myron, co-producer of The Chippendales, explained in the documentary The curse of Chippendales (Across The Independent):
Banerjee was motivated by jealousy – that Nick got the credit for the Chippendales, jealousy because Nick was getting half the door. He was jealous of Nick’s ability to handle all the attention.

Nick Dinoia was killed

This all went down a month after Scott Chippendales left Adonis. He was also part of a larger plan by Banerjee which reportedly included the murder of DeNoia, and the planned hits on Michael Fullington, who was a dancer, and Steve White, who was a producer on Adonis. Scott had made his way up the Chippendales, and had direct contact with both DeNoia and Banerjee, which means he witnessed their falling out right before he left for Adonis.
While Scott survived, he said he lived in fear for years, pointing out to people that he was always looking over his shoulder.
Steve Banerjee was arrested and pleaded guilty to murder-for-hire, robbery, and arson
According to the UPI archiveBanerjee, was arrested on September 2, 1993, for “alleged conspiracy to kill former business associates who started a competing operation” and “charged with conspiracy to violate federal murder-for-hire law”.
According to UPI, he was charged with “causing others to travel in foreign trade and using the facilities in foreign trade to further the murder scheme”. Federal prosecutors also told the publication that he has been charged with conspiracy to murder Mike Fullington, Steve White and Red Scott.
A Los Angeles grand jury has also indicted a Chippendales owner with plotting to kill DeNoia, according to a report. Los Angeles Times. The jury also charged him with “extortion and arson” following the investigation.
