Sami Zayn’s story shines through in WWE Survivor Series WarGames

Sami Zayn’s storyline with Bloodline was already great, but it reached new heights in WWE Survivor Series WarGames.

Roman Reigns is the focal point of WWE television, as he’s been the undisputed WWE Universal Champion since August 2020, after all. He formed the stable The Bloodline alongside his cousins, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, and Solo Sikoa. But the addition of Sami Zayn into the mix added a lot of intrigue to the story, and only made it better.

Zayn has been the outsider trying to help Reigns and the Usos, even wearing a Bloodline shirt to show his unity. This angered Ji Osuo, who wanted nothing to do with Zen. Afterwards, Reigns called Zayn “Uce Honorary”, giving him his own jersey and a spot in the stable, much to the dismay of G.I.

Finally, after months of bickering and in-fighting, Zayn beat G by helping Team Bloodline defeat the Team Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Butch, Drew McIntyre and Kevin Owens) in a WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series on Saturday. He did it at the expense of his ex-boyfriend in Owens.

In the lead-up to the WarGames match, Owens was officially revealed as the final member of the Brawling Brutes. On the November 25 episode of SmackDown Friday Night, Owens warned Zayn what could happen to him if he remained in Bloodline. As in, Zayn kicked out. They had this conversation outside the door to Bloodline’s locker room, which is where Jey happened to be listening. When he confronted Ji Zhen and asked him if he was talking to anyone, the reply was, “No.”

Later that night, Zayn attempted to help Uso’s team in their match against Sheamus and McIntyre, with the winner getting their tag team advantage in a WarGames match at Survivor Series. Zayn attempted to hand Jey one of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship titles, but was thwarted by Owens. Zayn was thrown into the ring and knocked out by the referee, who was too distracted to see Owens hit G with a stunner, allowing Sheamus to hit a Brogue Kick for the win.

At the event, Ji approached Reigns and told him about Zayn lying to him. Raines said he would look him in the eye and determine if he was lying. Zayn was called out, and he admitted to Reigns that he spoke to Owens and set the conversation. He said he lied to J because he didn’t want to distract him from the aforementioned match. That was when he and Reigns hugged.

In the main event, J started the match against Butch, who was then assisted by Ridge Holland who entered the match via their team having the advantage. With the clock ticking towards zero, Jimmy Uso attempted to enter the match but was stopped by Reigns, who made Zayn enter to resolve their differences.

Later as every contestant entered the match, Jey accidentally hit Zayn with a superkick, who didn’t show much remorse for the mistake. But when Owens threatened to pin Reigns to win the match, Zayn prevented the referee from a three count. As the two friends argued, G tried to hit a superkick but Owens blocked it. That was when Zayn landed a low blow to Owens and followed it up with a Helluva kick. He then let Jey hit a top rope splash on Owens to get the pin.

When Bloodline stood up in triumph, Jey, who had fallen out with Zayn over the months, embraced him.

Sami was the highlight of WWE television, starring in the main event of one of the company’s premier live events of the year. His place in Bloodline is now seemingly solid after helping lead the team to victory.
