As with most projects under the Marvel Studios umbrella, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Rumors started to spread across social media. One such rumor has William Jackson Harper playing a mysterious character named “Quaz” in Threequel, a telepathic rebel fighting against Kang the Conqueror’s (Jonathan Majors) Quantum Realm system. In an effort to connect the dots that may or may not be there, let’s just ask a simple question – could “Quaz” just be an acronym for Quasar?
We know William Jackson Harper is in the movie thanks to marketing materials released by theaters where the actor’s name is included in the credits for the movie. Long known for his role in The good placeHarper has become a favorite in recent months to be cast as Reed Richards in Marvel’s Fantastic Four franchise. With his growing popularity, one would think that the actor would be ready to play a much bigger role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a one-off supporting character…so why not Quasar?
Who is a quasar?
Like most Marvel superhero cloaks, Quasar has been worn by many characters over the years. However, the most notable character to wear this name is Wendell Vaughn, the character the costume originated from. A phone is an object made of pure quantum energy, which is a visible link to the quantum realm and, therefore, events Quantumania.
Furthermore, Quasar is the owner of the Quantum Bands, assets that allow someone to summon energy from the Quantum Zone – ahem, the realm – and use it for their benefit.
Is Quasar coming to the MCU?
Whether Quasar is coming to the MCU is the million dollar question. If Harper w toas the character originated in QuantumaniaIt will probably reappear only months later Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. After all, there was substantial speculation that a group like the Annihilators would end up taking over The Guardians given that the three quel was billed as the last project to feature this iteration at the time.
That’s not forgetting the cryptic tweet that James Gunn sent back in 2017 while he was writing the script Vol. 3And the Share a played VHS image with a Quasar label on it.
