Gosh, we wish Joss Johnson was on point for Josh Jacobs’ game-winning run for the Las Vegas Raiders over the Seattle Seahawks.
The 86 yards scamper in overtime The Sin City Silver and Black Warriors were allowed to escape the Emerald City Birds with a 40-34 win. Naturally, social media had a lot to say about the race, which took the Twitterverse by storm.
Josh Jacobs’ 86-yard run in overtime gave the Las Vegas Raiders a much needed victory and the Twitterverse a blast.
The back-and-forth contest between Seattle and Las Vegas was definitely one to remember, as Derek Carr passed a lot during the game, going 25-for-36 for 295 yards with three touchdown passes and two interceptions. Today, however, it belonged to Jacobs with 229 yards on the ground and two scores, including a clincher.
On the flip side, while doing his best impersonation of Tommy Maddox for a season comeback, Geno Smith threw for 328 yards and two scores with one pick. Smith played as well as he could, but the lack of a ground game hurt Seattle and forced all the pressure onto the quarterback. Gino responded well, but he couldn’t finish the deal.
It’s a shame for Seattle, but they still have a strong enough team to work with. And with the losses to Arizona and the defending champion Rams, it’s possible the Seahawks are still in the mix for the 49ers for a division title, or perhaps a wild card berth if the odds fall in their favor heading into the end of the season.
For now, the Raiders are the ones who can enjoy celebrating a bit as they score in a big play that is sure to be remembered for quite some time despite the tough season the franchise has had this year.
