Vin Diesel honors Paul Walker on the anniversary of his death

On the ninth anniversary of Paul Walker’s death, Walker The Fast and the Furious Co-star Vin Diesel shared a photo of the two together and a short remembrance of the actor. The anniversary of Walker’s death is always a moment of reflection for Diesel, his co-stars, and fans of the franchise, given how young Walker was when he passed, and the insensibility of his loss. while themes of love and family were present early on The Fast and the Furious The films, however, did not become the focus of conversation around them until after Walker’s death, and the rest of the cast dedicated the seventh film in the franchise to his memory.

Walker’s death shocked the world in 2013. On November 30 of that year, Walker and his friend Roger Rodas were driving together at high speed in Santa Clarita, California. In 2015, that’s where production ended Fast and Furious 7Diesel and his partner welcomed a daughter named Pauline (after Walker).

“He was in the room,” Diesel said at the time. “There’s no one else I was thinking of when I was cutting that umbilical cord. Only…I knew there was.”

Walker and Diesel appeared in Five The Fast and the Furious Movies Before Walker’s Death. The seventh film, which was then released, featured Walker’s character using a combination of stills shot for the film, trick photography, and a brief appearance by Walker’s own brother. The movie was a swan song for Walker’s character and ended with a poignant tribute sequence to the late actor.

“We knew that technically, when it came to its mechanics, there were a few boxes we wanted to check,” Mike Knobloch, president of Universal Pictures’ film music and publishing division, said of the song sequence. “Coming off with these amazing two hours of the most exciting, action-packed stuff I’ve ever seen in a movie, you have a sequence that needs balance. It needs to be suitably poignant and emotional, but you still want to get out of their seats and leave the theater feeling good. You don’t want to cancel the sequence from the movie.” Which they watched, and you certainly don’t want people to come out feeling sad or that they’ve just attended someone’s funeral. So getting the right music for the sequence was a key part of that. To have a song that’s serious and honest and can underscore the celebration of Paul’s life. Let’s be an anthem for that. It’s We worked hard to ask for it.”
