If you are a regular fan of MMA, you may have heard of James Krause. He’s a former UFC fighter turned storied trainer who, for most of his career, has been well-liked and highly respected. But that’s all changing now that he’s in the middle of a huge betting scandal.

Here’s what we know about the scandal, Krause’s involvement, and everything else you need to know.

Krause talked about his bet in the process Shown in The MMA Hour With Ariel Halawani on August 1, 2022.

“I bet every card in every fight,” Krause said. “I have a disagreement [server]Like its 2,000 members, we’re crushing it. We destroyed it last week. I take over people’s accounts and play for them, and I’m doing really well. I make more money gambling on MMA than I do anything else.

“I don’t make training,” he continued. “Of course not. I mean, if you’re talking about time, if you go out Wednesday to Sunday and get 10 percent off a guy… if we’re not talking about Brandon Moreno, most of my buddies are rookie guys who make 12/12 (for show). / to win), 14/14. I have some guys in their 20s, but even then you get 10 percent of 20,000, it’s 2,000 and I’m on the road every weekend from Wednesday to Sunday. It’s not – no. It’s not even close.”

The UFC has issued a statement prohibiting fighters from engaging in any gambling activity for any UFC event

On October 17, the UFC issued a statement banning fighters from betting on UFC fights.

UFC fighters are now prohibited from gambling on any UFC fight, regardless of whether they are involved or not. They can still only be sponsored and are not allowed to bet at all,” Helwani tweeted.

Darek Miner’s fight caught the attention of gambling investigators after suspicious betting lines were moved

On November 5, Darrick Miner lost his fight with Shayilan Nuerdanbieke via 1:10 TKO due to injury. It is said that the injury was known before the fight. Moments before the fight began, there was a big move on the betting line that favored Nuerdanbieke winning by a first round TKO, prompting betting sites to investigate.

Canadian Providences and New Jersey are pulling UFC fights from their betting platforms

On November 5, the Alberta Games spokesperson, Liquor & Cannabis, announced that all UFC lines would be removed from betting, similar to the province of Ontario that also banned it this week.

New Jersey has banned any fights involving Krause as a coach.

The UFC released Darrick Miner and banned Krause from training the fighter

On December 2, the UFC issued a statement condemning Krause and Minner and issued a notice to all fighters involved with Krause. In addition, they announced that Minner had been released from the promotion.

“On November 18, the Nevada State Athletic Commission notified UFC head coach and Miner’s coach, James Krause, that Krause’s license has been suspended and will remain so while the NSAC conducts an investigation,” the statement read. The UFC has since advised Krause, and the relevant managers who work with affected fighters, that fighters who elect to continue training by Krause or who continue training in his gym will not be allowed to participate in UFC events pending the outcome of said government investigations. Furthermore, the UFC has released Darrick Miner from the organization.”
