Willow creators debate about making a new Willow movie after the Disney+ series

Quite a few older anthologies have hit the Disney+ platform in the past couple of months. The 2022 TV schedule Particularly active in the field, two fan-favorite franchises have been brought to life through limited series: Santa Clause And now willow. While creators Jon Kasdan and Michelle Rejwan are proud of their place in the streaming slate, they seem to have ambitions to bring this long-sleeping world back to theaters.

This was evident when I spoke with Kasdan and Rajawan during the meeting Disney + (Opens in a new tab) press day for willow Debuted in the last series. At the time of our interview, they had just walked out of the theatrical run of their first two episodes, which were shown in London the night before. Riding high on that wave of joy, John Kasdan shared this vision of a future willow With CinemaBlend:

We are big advocates for [screening streaming series]And, the one thing we both imagine as the future of this whole business that we’re in, is the possibility that the train could go the other way a little bit. Sometimes these series culminate in stage experiences that need to be seen in the theater. I think Benioff and Weiss wanted that with Game of Thrones. I think there are a lot of opportunities to do that. We’d like to see that happen. I think Disney will eventually, too.
