Alabama fans celebrate TCU’s loss as the door to the College Football game is opened wide

Alabama Crimson Tide loyalists were celebrating a potential college football ground after the TCU Horned Frogs lost in the Big 12 Championship Game.

After suffering losses to Tennessee and LSU, Alabama’s chances of making the College Football Playoff appear to be over. Slowly but surely, teams ahead of them in the CFP rankings have begun to lose, such as Tennessee, LSU, Ohio State, and USC. Just like that, there was a glimmer of hope that the Crimson Tide would sneak a playoff spot. All they needed was to lose TCU’s horned frogs.

This is exactly what happened on Saturday. Undefeated TCU fell to the Kansas State Wildcats 31-28 in overtime. With that, it opened Alabama’s door to sneak into the playoffs open a little wider for them to earn a top-four finish.

Alabama fans were ecstatic after watching TCU suffer its first loss of the season.

While Alabama fans may celebrate, it does not necessarily mean that they will be in the playoff game. Let’s not forget that TCU lost in overtime, which they forced after overcoming a 28-17 deficit.

The Horned Frogs were able to tie the game on their penultimate drive of the game, thanks in part to quarterback Max Duggan. On that drive, Duggan ran for 87 yards on four carries, before reaching the end zone on an eight-yard run. From there, Duggan connected with Jared Wiley for a two-point conversion to tie things up.

But in overtime, TCU Duggan ran the ball once, which fell short of a touchdown. After that, the horned frogs never gave him the ball back. Horned Frogs running back Kendry Miller was stuffed on 3rd and 4th downs to turn the ball over.

Then Kansas State got the ball and watched as Ty Zentner won the Big 12 title after successfully kicking a 31-yard field goal.

Bama fans may be celebrating now, but let’s see if they turn out during the CFP Pick Show on Sunday, December 4 at 12:00 PM ET.
