Balenciaga drops millionaire lawsuit

According to PageSix, the fashion house is turning the page on the legal side of the campaign after the huge backlash they received for introducing a campaign where children were holding BDSM dolls while legal documents about child pornography were used as props for a photo shoot.

Kim Kardashian broke her silence about the campaign earlier in the week

She made a statement on Twitter saying “I’ve been keeping quiet for the past few days, not because I wasn’t shocked and angry about Balenciaga’s recent campaigns, but because I wanted a chance to talk to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.”

“As a mother of four, the disturbing images shocked me. Children’s safety should be held in the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society – period.”

Kanye West kept his support

Meanwhile, Kanye West and Balenciaga’s backing remained undeterred because they were so close to the product.

Balenciaga’s creative director made a statement

On Friday, Balenciaga’s creative director issued a statement of apology as he takes responsibility for choosing the wrong creative team

“I want to personally apologize for the artistically wrong choice of concept for the baby gifting campaign and I take responsibility,” it stated. “It was inappropriate for children to promote things that had nothing to do with them,” he explained that although he had always wanted to be thought-provoking campaigns, he “would have no intention of doing that with a topic as egregious as child abuse.”

“I need to learn from this, listen and engage with child protection organizations to see how I can contribute and help with this terrible topic,” he concluded.
