SNL is bringing the fun to life in Hello Kitty’s True Origins With Surprise Natasha Lyonne Cameo

Saturday Night Live teased the true origins and history behind Sanrio’s Hello Kitty in a special sketch with surprise appearances from Natasha Lyonne, Spider-Man, and more! Sanrio’s Hello Kitty has been one of the most popular mascots in the world, but it’s often forgotten what the real ideals are behind Sanrio’s invention of the mascot. When the symbol was first created, one of the more interesting tales was that Hello Kitty is actually a little girl and not the cat many fans assumed.

This of course became the main focus of Saturday Night Live on Hello Kitty with its final episode. Guest starring Keke Palmer, a group of new apprentices at the first Hello Kitty store in New York are surprised to learn more information about the mascot such as the fact that it was supposed to be a little girl (also presumably 48 years old) instead of the cat that might make you Hello Kitty name believe it.

What’s going on in Hello Kitty Sketch from SNL?

Throughout the episode, intern Keke Palmer continues to feel uneasy with each new piece of Hello Kitty lore she discovers such as the little girl’s relationship with the other characters, who become an actual animal in the Sanrio world. It’s such a far fetched thing that the rest of New York begins to protest against all things too as Hello Kitty’s mascot (Russian dolls Natasha Lyonne (in disguise) notices that all of New York is behind their backs.

It was a very definitive episode for Keke Palmer in general as she revealed during the monologue that she was pregnant, “People were in my comments saying ‘Keke has a baby, Keke is pregnant.’ And I want to set the record straight, I am!” Continuing her later announcement, “But honestly , that was the biggest blessing and I’m so excited, I’m going to be a mother. Even though some people feel weird about me having a baby because I’m a child actor, I just want to say: I’m 29, I’m grown up, I’m having sex, I’m having a house, I’m broke Capitol on January 6th. You know, things that adults do.”
