Wingstop made headlines earlier this year when they not only joined the long-running Chicken Sandwich Wars with their own take on the fan-favorite menu item back then when they sold out on short notice, but now, the chain is about to take that level up. Next up with the introduction of a new, limited-time flavor that’s good at any of Wingstop’s offerings — but especially the chicken sandwich: Carolina Gold BBQ.
On Monday, Wingstop announced its new Carolina Gold barbecue that’s been described as tasting “as good as gold” and is inspired by South Carolina barbecue traditions. Traditional Carolina Golden Barbecue Sauce is rooted in South Carolina and has a distinct mustard base that gives it a tangy flavour. Wingstop has put its own spin on this classic flavor, giving it an added sweetness but still delivering a taste rooted in those culinary origins. It even has a slightly golden hue to it as well.
“Wingstop’s Carolina Gold BBQ flavor keeps the classic queues of mustard, vinegar, and brown sugar flavors true to its origins, but—in Wingstop fashion—our flavor stands out from the crowd,” said Chef Larry Bellah, Culinary Director and Wingstop at Wingstop. Research and development. “It’s heavier on the sweetness, which makes this flavor surprisingly delicious and tangy even for the biggest mustard skeptic. It’s a must-try, especially on a chicken sandwich.”
The new Carolina Gold BBQ flavor is available for a limited time starting Monday, December 5th. Customers can get the new flavor from the menu offerings of classic bone-in, bone-in, or crunchy as well as the viral chicken sandwich. Plus, from December 6-19, Uber Eats is running a buy-one-get-one-free chicken sandwich promotion, letting chicken sandwich lovers try two different flavors — or you can just double your favorite flavor if you like.
