Eagles center Jason Kelsey is such a huge fan of Sean Astin that he wore an homage to the actor’s “50 First Dates” character. Astin took notice on Twitter.
The intersection between sports and entertainment isn’t too tight, especially when Twitter manages to bring athletes and actors together.
This week, Eagles center Jason Kelsey and “Rudy” actor Sean Astin were randomly hooking up on the social media platform.
It all started when the official NFL Twitter account asked who did a better look, Jason Kelsey in the homage or Astin playing Doug from “50 First Dates” himself.

“No question @JasonKelce,” Astin said in a tweet.
Kelsey didn’t just see the trend. He absolutely loved it.
“No way!! I’ve been a huge fan of Shawn for so long!” Kelsey replied. “Rowdy was my dad’s favorite sports movie and we watched it so many times growing up, I used to walk linebacker in college, and it meant more during that. Nobody could pull off that uniform better than Doug himself!”
This is just an adorable moment between two lovable characters. Kelce is a stalwart of the Eagles’ offensive line who has made himself more likable with his outlandish outfits and general demeanor.
Astin became an unforgettable figure for sports fans with his portrayal of Rudy in the movie of the same name about Notre Dame’s endlessly tireless career. His portrayal of Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings film trilogy might be more noteworthy, but his appearance as Doug Whitmore in “50 First Dates” deserves a lot of love, too.
