Killer beast is shut down

The Witcher: The Killer Beast Developer Spokko said this week that it will shut down halfway through 2023. Spokko, a developer within the CD Projekt family, announced that the mobile game The Witcher will end on June 30th. The developer said this gives players plenty of time to do some last-minute monster hunting before the game officially ends, but that it will go through some “major changes” starting in February.

An announcement on the game’s website confirmed Fate The Witcher: The Killer Beastan augmented reality game similar to others like pokemon go Where players are tasked with hunting down Witcher monsters in the real world. Spokko looked back on the game’s relatively short run (it was released in July 2021) and thanked the players for their participation.

“We are proud that we were able to create a location-based augmented reality experience that captured what it was like to be a wizard in real life and gave the community a chance to battle the monsters of the Witcher-world up close and personal.” memo said the creators of the game. This is what makes The Witcher: Monster Slayer such a unique experience in The Witcher franchise.

“We are so grateful to have shared all of this with such an amazing and passionate community from around the world. This journey, full of quests, events and adventure, would not have been possible without you – together, we have defeated over 100 million monsters worldwide, after all!”

Although the game will actually be playable until June 30, it won’t be available on mobile stores for long. Spocko said The Witcher: The Killer Beast “It will be available on the App Store and Google Play Store until January 31st” at which point we’ll see the major changes taking place, changes that are detailed through an additional FAQ.

After January 31, 2023, the in-game store will no longer include in-app purchases using real money. Spocko said. “Not all transactions related to exchanging real money for in-game consumables will be available. Players will still be able to exchange their in-game currency for items available in the in-game store, until June 30, 2023.”

As for the developer, the plan is to spin Spokko over to CD Projekt Red, though layoffs are expected.
