When are direct payments sent?

The monthly payments are then set to continue for 24 months which means they will become very important money for a lot of people.

Bodyguard Clarence Shaffer, who is taking care of his 87-year-old mother, told WTTW that the money is a relief.

He said: “This program can upset me a lot and worry me because it allows me to maintain some things that I have to think about changing.

“You can set it up to do the same thing every month or change it up, whatever you want to do, the truth is, you know you’ve made it this far. Over two years, it’s $12,000, so it’s a big deal.”

The monthly checks are sent to adults whose income is at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty line.

For a single person, the minimum is $33,975 per year.
