Written and directed by John Patton Ford, Plaza stars in the film as Emily, a young woman saddled with student debt and locked out of the job market due to a minor criminal record. Desperate for income, she does a shady job as a “phantom shopper,” buying goods with stolen credit cards offered by a handsome, charismatic middleman named Youssef (Teo Rossi). Faced with a series of dead-end job interviews, Emily soon finds herself smitten with the quick cash and illicit excitement of black market capitalism, and takes an increasing interest in her mentor, Joseph. Together, they hatch a plan to take their business to the next level in Los Angeles.
