Dennis Allen reveals whether or not the Saints plan to seat Andy Dalton

After Monday Night Football collapsed, New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen spoke about whether or not to bench Andy Dalton.

Monday Night Football was a Monday night meltdown for the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints had Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dead in the water with just over five minutes remaining in the game, but the veteran quarterback led off two miracle scoring attempts before time expired, leaving Saints fans wondering what happened.

On one side of the field, the midfielder and sports icon led his team back from the jaws of defeat. On the other hand, the quarterback now faced what could lead to a quarterback controversy.

Andy Dalton took over for the Saints starting quarterback in Week 4 after Jameis Winston could no longer play through a back injury. But after Monday night’s game, some began to question whether or not Dalton should still be the starter.

Head coach Dennis Allen was asked about Dalton, and the possibility of a quarterback change going forward.

In Monday’s game, Dalton wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was far from stellar. He finished 20-for-28 for 232 yards and a touchdown, and was sacked twice.

The running game didn’t do him any favors, as the Saints ran for just 66 yards in total, including just 26 yards from star running back Alvin Kamara, who had had a rough season up to this point.

Technically the Saints are still at it, mathematically being able to win the NFC South. But, New Orleans has only scored 13.4 points per game in its last five games (1-4). The hardest part about this five span game? Defensively, the Saints were outstanding, giving up just 19.4 points per game.

That Allen says he feels Dalton played well Monday night raises a serious question: Where is Allen’s measure when it comes to satisfactory quarterback play?

Last year, James Winston was a 5-2 starter, kicking 14 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He allegedly started this season playing Four broken vertebraeso it’s hard to blame him for the four draft picks he threw during the first three weeks.

Now Winston is completely healthy He went on record Saying that it “hurts his heart”, he started work because of the injury.

With the Saints boasting someone like Chris Olaf who can beat defenders deep, along with someone like Marquis Callaway and even Trequan Smith, the offense is never short on receivers at speed. Known for his carry, Winston has three 4,000-yard passing seasons under his belt, including producing another 5,000-yard rush in 2019.

Clearly, the Saints need some kind of spark, and if Dalton won’t give them that, Allen has to make a decision — and fast.
