Skip Bayless can’t believe the Cowboys are trailing the Texans at halftime

Skip Bayless can’t fathom how the Dallas Cowboys trailed the Houston Texans at halftime.

One would think that Skip Bayless would be used on a Dallas Cowboys team that would disappoint in scoring.

He may fondly remember the glory days of Roger Staubach and the Triplets thereafter, but Bayless’ roots are for the glorified noise machine known as “Team America.” Are the Cowboys a good team? Yes, but are they cool? See, here’s the problem. You can never trust the Cowboys to run big or not compromise on less competition when you least expect it, like the Houston Texans!

No doubt about it, having the worst team in the NFL trail home before halftime is a bad look.

Once again, Bayless blames the puppet rather than the puppet master of Jerryworld…

As long as Jerry Jones has a GI Joe kung-fu grip on the franchise, this is Dallas.

Skip Bayless loses confidence because of the Dallas Cowboys running behind the Houston Texans

No, Mike McCarthy isn’t a perfect coach, but he did lead the Green Bay Packers to their last outing and Super Bowl victory. That was more than a decade ago, but we’ve also removed more than a quarter-century since Dallas last lifted the Lombardi Trophy. The ’90s dream may be alive in Portland, but no amount of Internet connectivity or Beanie Baby hoarding will fit Dallas here.

Truthfully, the gap between No. 1 and No. 32 in the NFL is probably 21 points on a good day. Was the Kansas City Chiefs or Philadelphia Eagles beating woebegone Texas at home by more than three scores? Possibly, but these are professional athletes with wives and children in homes and mortgages to pay. 50 Blast Burger is on the menu that college football usually serves.

Overall, we can’t really blame Bayless for falling apart at the seams here. We’ve seen him do it before on a much smaller scale than that and we’ll see him do it again. Considering his favorite NBA team stinks and his favorite college football team has gone 11-13 all together this season, you can understand why Bayless would put all his eggs in the Cowboys basket under the guillotine.

In the end, Dallas still found a way to make the NFL playoffs in the NFC. However, if there was a franchise to lose disastrously in the divisional round, no one has been better at it since Bill Clinton was in office than the Cowboys. One day, they’ll be back in a conference title bout. In the meantime, let’s enjoy Bayless’s regular Twitter meltdowns.

Win or lose, the Cowboys will always find a way not to live up to lofty, unrealistic expectations.
