Wakanda Forever VFX Boss Reveals Surprising Fish-Poop Details (EXCLUSIVE)

Those who work in visual effects on blockbusters put great care into their work. Whether it’s digitally rebuilding an existing island commune from scratch due to filming limitations, or designing a fantasy city so that a witch powered by the Infinity Stone can manipulate it at will, the best VFX work often goes unnoticed. when it comes to b Black Panther: Wakanda Forever And the introduction of the underwater Talokan, which means, believe it or not, the filmmakers put an enormous amount of care into how the fish poop floating around the fairy kingdom would look on screen.

“If you want to talk about the nitty-gritty, we were literally discussing the shape of a fish’s poop that’s made up of all the things floating around, and how we need to make sure that shape is correct,” VFX supervisor Chris White told us. “Because when lighters are shaped and not the right shape, they don’t look like they’re underwater. We have a scheme where someone modeled the different shapes out of the poop that fish excrete, and then had millions of it float around them.”

White adds that the technical name for the poop is called marine snow and he’s been one of the full-time people at Wētā to make sure the poop — that is, snow — looks just right.

“We had someone who was a full-time job just doing that sea ice. What he did for the whole movie, it was for every shot, making sure it was captured with the right motion and had the right character, the intensity was right, it had the current under the water, and he re-recorded notes on it as well.” On how to improve it, ”adds the director.

now in theatres, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Follows Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), and Mabako (Winston Duke)And the Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) as they fight to protect their nation from the intrusion of world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace the next chapter, heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.
