Apple is expanding its Emergency SOS satellite service for iPhone 14 users in France, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom

iPhone 14 users in France, Germany, Ireland and the UK can finally take advantage of Apple’s Emergency SOS feature via satellite starting today.

In September, Apple unveiled iPhone 14 And the iPhone 14 Pro. This year, the company has begun to make a significant distinction between the regular and Pro models. For example, the iPhone 14 Pro variants have an upgraded 48MP wide camera, support Always-On Display (AOD), and offer Dynamic Island. Meanwhile, the regular iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus hardly offer any exciting changes when compared to the iPhone 13. However, one of the selling points that runs across the iPhone 14 series is the introduction of the all-new satellite Emergency SOS feature. This easy-to-use tool allows users to access emergency services and rely on Find My, even when carrier coverage is not available. Emergency SOS via satellite first launched in Canada and the US last month, and has now expanded to those in France, Germany, Ireland and the UK

Just like iPhone 14 users in the US and Canada, users in France, Germany, Ireland and the UK can now rely on satellites to reach emergency services. Likewise, users rely on this feature for two years without paying a subscription fee. When the free trial ends, customers will either have to cancel the service or start paying the company to keep access. How much the company will charge per month or annually in two years is still unknown at this time.

For those who are not familiar with Emergency SOS via satellite, this tool allows users to rely on satellites roaming around the Earth. After the connection is established, iPhone 14 users can specify the nature of the emergency and their location. The satellites then send this data to the relevant parties. Similarly, you can update Find My Location through this service. Although, depending on your location and weather conditions, the time it takes to connect to the satellite will vary.

How much are you willing to pay for this service after the free trial ends? Let us know in the comments section below.
