Triple H’s system is designed to boost the WWE roster. Since assuming creative responsibilities on the main roster last summer, WWE’s Chief Content Officer has brought dozens of previously released WWE Superstars back to the company, including several NXT superstars who never worked for real. Monday Night Raw or WWE SmackDown. Former evolutionary title holders such as Karrion Cross, Dakota Kai, Johnny Gargano, and Candice Larry have all ventured back into WWE, while former main roster world champions like Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman have returned to the ranks. This varying success rate is not lost on Triple H. Like I mentioned @employeeand Triple H and others in high-profile positions behind the scenes are “deeply disappointed” with the “handful” of recent returns, and felt that some of WWE’s newer superstars had “underperformed”.
There’s no telling exactly which names left WWE officials something to wish for, but a look at current programming for recent returns gives a good idea. On the WWE SmackDown As an aside, Wyatt has been slowly unpacking the seams in his new persona and has just now begun his first feud since his return in October. Strowman engaged Omos in a heavyweight title fight WWE Crown Jewel He has since competed in the SmackDown World Cup tournament, losing to Ricochet in the semi-finals. Hit Row has been in a factional war with its three fellow Legado del Fantasma and Viking Raiders. Emma lost her rematch to SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey and is now in an on-screen romance with real-life partner Madcap Moss.
Looking back on Monday nights, Johnny Gargano briefly feuded with former NXT ally Austin Theory before realigning with fellow returning superstar Dexter Lumis. Gargano and Lumis feuded with The Miz for over a month. The good brothers reunited with AJ Styles and brought the fight to Judgment Day, adding Mia Yim to their ranks as well. Kai made a big comeback WWE SummerSlam In July, Bayley and IYO SKY sided to form Damage CTRL. Kai and SKY currently reign as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
