Vocal winner Bryce Leatherwood shares his reaction to Buddy’s chants and online negativity

the sound Season 22 on NBC concluded with a conclusion that many viewers may have deemed a teaser, depending on which fanbase they fell into. Although Team Blake’s Bodie had looked like the frontrunner for most of the season, he fell short against other country singer and newer champion Bryce Leatherwood, who had a notable closing night. Leatherwood overcame the vocal and vocal support of the Body fandom with his victory, while also disproving any online doubters, and if he had any problems facing those issues head-on, he certainly never showed them.

I spoke to Bryce Leatherwood after he deservedly won the soundAnd be sure to ask him how he feels about the massive show of support Boddy has received throughout the season, particularly with the crowd adopting his two-syllable name in a not-so-easy-to-handle one-syllable chant, “Bryce.” When I asked Leatherwood if he had been bothered or disturbed by the audience’s cheers, he shared his impressively real and practical thoughts on how he viewed the situation:

Oh no. I think everyone here has a huge number of fans, and Buddy probably had more in the crowd than me, you know? Hey, that’s cool. I love Bodhi and who can blame him? If I’m in the crowd I’ll cheer on Bodhi too. It’s just a blessing, man. There are so many great performers this season and I am happy to represent all of them as the winners. I am very proud to say that.
