The MCU is a giant property, but some franchises stand out as fan favorites. James Jean Guardians of the Galaxy He is definitely in this category, and his next movie Vol. 3 It is one of the most anticipated things Upcoming Marvel movies Get off the line. Gunn recently clarified that Rocket is the “secret protagonist” of the franchise, and how that will come about Pay off in theequel highly anticipated.
While the lead character in Guardians of the Galaxy Arguably the franchise being Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, they really are team projects. Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon is a constant scene-stealer who survived Thanos’ snapshot and is even the last character we see in the movie. Vol. 2. James Gunn recently spoke to EW About the third film and how Sarouk influenced his decision to return after it his temporary dismissal from the studio. in his words,
One of the reasons I come back [make] This movie was made because I felt I needed to tell Rocket’s story. I would have been very sad not to have completed the trilogy for many reasons, but I feel very attached to Rocket. I feel like no one would be able to tell his full story if it wasn’t me.
Some points have been made. While the Guardians are certainly beloved characters in the MCU, their stories are far from complete. We still haven’t really gotten to know Rocket’s backstory, and the experiences that made him the hero we know today. James Gunn has made his love of Rocket clear over the years, and smart money says this will pay off in a big way for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Later in the same interview, he explained how he had always thought about the significance of Bradley Cooper’s hero in a Marvel movie. in his words,
For me, Rocket has always been the secret protagonist of the Guardians movies. From the very beginning, it was rooted in his personality. I think it represents a lot of the traits of all Guardians. They’ve all experienced these traumas, and it brings them together. I just think it’s more extreme than the others.
In fact, part of what unites the Guardians of the Galaxy is the amount of childhood pain they endured. While we’ve seen glimpses of Rocket’s scars on the big screen, it looks like the James Gunn trilogy will finally reveal exactly what happens to him. I don’t know about you, but I bring tissues.
The idea that Rocket’s trauma is “more extreme” than his teammates is definitely saying something, especially given the backstory of characters like Nebula. She was constantly tortured and mechanically enhanced by Thanos, all because her sister Gamora always bested her in battle. But Rocket’s backstory is somehow even worse. James Gunn explained further:
He was just an animal, and he turned into something else he didn’t want to be. I think the transformation itself was very painful, but I also think it made him feel incredibly alienated from everyone else. in Vol. 3, we learn a lot about his past – where he came from, who he is, and what he’s been through. It was a difficult road for the little animal.
I’m not crying, you’re crying. We still don’t actually know anything about the contents Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but the movie is clearly going to be firing on all cylinders.
